I love the pictures
7/18/2008 12:11:31 PM
you could take that charger and 1/b batteries, and only turn your phone on when you needed it and that would not be really significant to measure at all for its availability.
7/18/2008 12:12:31 PM
i think they're concerned right down to a few ounces
7/18/2008 12:13:43 PM
7/18/2008 12:13:54 PM
7/18/2008 12:15:45 PM

7/18/2008 12:16:40 PM

7/21/2008 9:28:21 PM
RAAAAAAAWWWWWWWRRRRDid 10 miles today to finish off in Straton, ME. That included Big Bigelow Mountain which are those two tall peaks in the picture. Down hill blows ass. My dogs are barkin, but they'll be alright for some more tomorrow.Looking forward to a zero in Wrangley
7/21/2008 9:31:02 PM

7/21/2008 9:54:34 PM
7/21/2008 10:07:19 PM
Ugh I hate going down hill more than I hate going up, at least going up is something you are used to, going down is a whole different strain on muscles
7/21/2008 10:53:40 PM
Enjoy the pictures[Edited on July 22, 2008 at 9:29 AM. Reason : d]

BallinBlue Berries GALORE!!!!!We came across a blue berry patch, threw our packs down and picked em for the next 20 minutes...The spoils of war
7/22/2008 9:29:03 AM
Sounds like an amazing adventure!!!!
7/22/2008 9:32:32 AM

7/22/2008 9:39:33 AM
well do yall have 10 days of suppliesif not that sign looks pretty stern
7/22/2008 9:43:32 AM
yeah...i don't see 10 days worth of water and food in therebut then, it's been years since i did any backcountry backpacking
7/22/2008 9:44:57 AM
I will do this...very very soon...
7/22/2008 9:46:57 AM
gah, what i wouldn't give to do this...the gf wouldn't be keen on the AT, though she does weekend trips very welli've yet to use my internal frame for anything but traipsing about europe
7/22/2008 9:48:24 AM
you should find one of the weaker hikers and crucify them on that sign[Edited on July 22, 2008 at 9:49 AM. Reason : i have a bad habit of stealing mile markers off the AT, from random points where ive crossed/camped]
7/22/2008 9:48:34 AM
wow, this is awesome. i would love to go backpacking again someday, it's been years since i last went on a trip.do you guys fill up your bottles in streams along the way? or do you make sure to carry enough water from the start?
7/22/2008 11:14:09 AM
i talked to your ma britta (on friday) [Edited on July 22, 2008 at 11:17 AM. Reason : ^^ fucking klepto ]
7/22/2008 11:15:51 AM
the only place i've drunk directly out of the stream was in sweden, from glacial melti don't think i'm ballsy enough to drink straight from a stream in our mountains here, but it's probably not too bad
7/22/2008 11:16:39 AM
I am so curious as to what is in those back packs. I want to do this and I know for sure that I would take a lot of insulin and insulin supplies but other than that I don't know what is needed. Did I already say that I want to do this. Too cool. Me. jealous.
7/22/2008 11:24:39 AM
i my priorities are the following:1. water2. food3. lighter (to set the woods on fire in case i get lost)3. cell4. porn[Edited on July 22, 2008 at 11:27 AM. Reason : asdr]

the sign pic is actually from when we completed the 100 Mile Wilderness. So we already finished the most hardcore section! We get water from sources along the way. even 3 days of water would weigh like 40 lbs. Erik has a filter and I use chlorine to treat the water. also we try to avoid beaver ponds and whatnot to drink out of.this is my gear list. haven't updated it recently, but I haven't changed much. obviously I have all the stuff now. I didn't bring the down jacket or ukulele http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pBxw1O7aoF_1p3ldltH8UDA ]
7/22/2008 11:28:16 AM
i wonder how long would it take dnl to complete this hike since he would probably stop to beat off at everything. i would go with the conservative 6 weeks.
7/22/2008 11:31:13 AM
my boss has a spreadsheet with all his stuff on it. he just brought his new stove to work to show off.. it was pretty sweet.he's trying to get a group to go for a trip through the dessert, maybe joshua tree or something... that should be interesting.
7/22/2008 11:31:34 AM
i'm going to quit my job
7/22/2008 11:32:24 AM
So, it's settled then. T-dub appalachian trail hike in the near future.
7/22/2008 11:35:39 AM
Hello from Andover, ME....gone ~270 now...next is mahoosucs notch, which is arguably the hardest mile and/or most fun of the AT..takes around 1.5-2 hrs to complete one mile...lots of bolder climbing. We are almost to NH (our first state will be finished ). At the border we will be met by the white mountains which are supposed to be gorgeous. We'll climb over Mt. Washington! The Cog train goes to the top and it's an AT tradition to moon the Cog....only problem is that they have cracked down on the hikers showing their asses to everyone....i'm still thinking about doing it though and running..what say you t-dub.Next stop is Gorum, NH where the cheese burger challenge at McDonalds will occur...we were thinkin about doin the value meal challenge as well.[Edited on July 30, 2008 at 12:38 PM. 7/30/2008 12:38:17 PM
Erik, i will never respect you again if you dont drag your heavy nuts over to that train and drop your drawers. So fill us non-thru hiking squares in, what are those two challenges.
