so what, they are playing awesome shit like eye, siva, speed kills, transformer, and glass theme. That right there is worth admission. And I would rather hear those than SD all the way through.

meh I wouldnt ever want to hear those over SD all the way through. I like those songs of course but still. They are a consolation prize to compared to hearing some of the songs on SD they havent played in awhile.

good show. set was pretty identical to the one posted on the previous page. Billy was in a GREAT mood tonight. at one point he stopped and just talked and goofed with the crowd for at least 20 minutes I would say, if not more. He saw some guys wearing cubs gear and invited them up front and talked sports with them. talked jokingly about politics and also why he loves rock and roll. One of my favorite moments was when he asked "wheres the nature boy, is the nature boy here tonight?!" hahaha. he then went on to say how awesome ric flair was and tell us how many times he has met him.

he had a good energy about him tonight, seemed in good spirits the whole night, and rocked a shiny silver kilt.

<3 mayonaise too.

I'm going tomorrow and am wondering how much of the show is choreographed. Also I'm curious to see what this auditorium is like, the pictures look pretty sweet.

the whole thing was just a wash of guitar noise - i'm not an expert by any means but it could have had a little more oomph

very different show from the orange peel though - i almost fell asleep during set the controls but some of the other stuff like united states and heavy metal machine had me pumpin my fist

and lol @ the bob costas rant

the band seemed to really enjoy themselves (especially billy) and that helps make it a better show for the fans

heavy metal machine was great.

other than that i have nothing but complaints. a couple of twenty minute long jam sessions. billy corgan beating some bigass drums for no reason for 10 minutes. every "standard" they played (all of 3 or 4) was played WAY too fucking fast. and what goddamned band comes out for an encore and makes it a big joke? motherfuckers paid between 45 and 60 bucks to see your delusional ass, and you're making up words to "in the summertime", some of which, mocked your listenership. and the way he snaked around the stage, making different gestures was a fucking joke.

my god, i've never been more disappointed in a show in my entire life. biggest ego i've ever seen on stage.

eat a dick.

i'll never see them live again.

yea jimmy rocked it. my main complain on the charlotte show would have to be "today" and "bullet.." being played way too fast and seemingly without a lot of emotion. Maybe they are tired of playing those two, I dono, but I noticed that as well.

It was definitely not your traditional rock and roll show. I was disappointed zero and disarm weren't played. Also the crowd cheering Billy on when he drank water was pretty stupid and I think it speaks volumes about the intelligence level of the people in attendance and what they find particularly entertaining. All in all it was average but the venue was definitely awesome.. probably the most lush and classy venue in Raleigh.

I have to say this was one of the best shows I have been to. I dont understand how some of you up there say it sucked. BC was rocking the fuck out tonight, he was in a great mood, he even played the encore with no shirt, he has NEVER played shirtless in the history of SP (possibly a good thing) but just that shows he was in a great mood. WillemJoel, pull the stick out of your ass brother. You must have already been in a bad mood to begin with, because the show was fucking phenomenal. I mean what did you want, siamese dream all the way through. What they played spanned their entire catalog and displayed their musical diversity. As far as the "hits" go, a whole lot of the audience has been to multiple shows, and we get tired of hearing bullet and today everytime we see them. If it was 1996 and they were still HUGE I would expect them to play a shit ton of hits, but the audience has fallen to hardcore fans pretty much and the occasional thirty-somethings that were like "oh I had mellon collie in college", and who is still supporting you? so who are you going to play for more? As far as the encore, how can you complain about that, the band was having a ton of fun, jeff even got on the drums. If the band isint having fun, no one is having fun. We know if BC came out there depressed as shit and not giving a fuck you would be bitching like hell too, one of those fans that is never like "yea, that was a good show".

^i need some of what you're smoking, you're just as delusional as billy corgan...and who the fuck cares if the guy is in a good mood? you guys sound like a bunch of emo kids. the setlist was identical to the setlist posted from other shows - right down to the kazoo 'encore'...what the fuck is the point of an encore at this point in your career when it's just to play kazoo badly? the encore is a planned part of every performance solely as an ego booster, it's fucking pitiful....i really wish they would learn to end a song, btw - the whole 30 second finale to every song doesn't make them better - it kills their impact. changing and rushing through crowd favorites was a fatal mistake, fuck man, the entire right side of the event hall was EMPTY before they were finished with the 2nd 'instrumental' which was also crap. if there's anything to be gained from attending this tour, it's to learn what NOT to do to your crowd - he ignored us the first hour, made obligatory comments to fill space, and generally made true old school fans nauseous. Smashing Pumpkins have gone the way of metallica, gnr, and bob sagat.

i'm disgusted i wasted $40 on that when i could have seen dethklok and chimaira a few weeks ago for less.

^damn man, Bob Sagat, thats a fucking low blow. I dont see how you think they sucked, man they fucking rocked the shit out of that place. I waited outside to talk to Billy with the rest of the stalkers after the show and he said this was easily the best crowd of the tour so far. Most everyone agrees this was a great show.

didn't compare to orange peel, but i liked the quirky ending. i got the idea that billy was in a good mood, but that the band wasn't feeling the vibe of the audience. the long, droning jams were enjoyable in asheville, but from the way back, were putting me to sleep. i don't think the band really fit in the venue. whatever, heavy metal machine motherfuckas.

I hung out with him before the show, in the stalker group waiting on BC to come out and talk to us, and after the show as well. His name is Josh, he runs the Charlotte SP fans myspace. He gave me a kazoo, and I used it

I enjoyed it but I do agree with the complaints I am hearing. There were too many lulls that just took the crowd out of it. I too almost went to sleep during set the controls. If the set list was changed a little it could have been amazing. If they would have replaced the 20 minute set the controls jam with 4 songs from SD/Mellon Collie it would have been much better. There are still plenty on those albums that I am sure they have not played to death. I liked the kazoo part but would have been great if they came right back out and rocked out to end the show.

The show was overpriced, but at least i got to see the pumpkins. I doubt i will go again though. The kazoo part was sorta creative, but i expected a better encore. The drum solo part was just a joke. It was an odd venue to begin with. And WTF is up with some 40 dollar tshirts!?

I still enjoyed last night. I didn't feel like they phoned it in. I saw energy and emotion. I'm quick to blame a shitty crowd, and that one wasn't bad at all. I heard a guy behind us, leaving, say "This is fuckin gay" during Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun. It epitomized, for me, the kind of people who call things "gay."

I've seen a ton of shows and this one didn't scream "AWFUL! ABORT! CANCEL!" like apparently it did for some people.

But all these negative comments won't keep me from having enjoyed:
- the speed at which your favorite radio hits were played
- the kazoo thing, which, planned or no, was FUN
- Corgan's attitude, which I thought was snarky, sarcastic, and funny. I like his stage presence.
- A fifteen-minute ambient noise cover of a Barrett-era Pink Floyd song.
- the acoustic deal in the middle of the show
- The bassist
