No. That is crabtree.

I worked at Triangle Town Center for 4 months, ending in march. It is not a ghetto mall. They don't even give out free samples at the food court, like crabtree does. The only areas that could possibly be called ghetto, around capital blvd are south of millbrook, west of capital blvd, concentrating along new hope from brentwood on up. And that isn't even really much of shit of compared to the immediate new bern ave area, inside 440. This was the result of a group of white honda race punks talking racist shit in high school, a group of blacks see them at the mall, cell phones start ringing.

And what the hell is with the numbers. First I hear it was 100 people, then that became 200, and now it is 300?

whatev, triangle always has mobs of people walking around in it not buying anything just like "hanging."

and mexicans that bring their kids IN SWIMSUITS to play in the fountain/squirty water thing outside the food court. maybe it isn't ghetto but that isn't high class. but south point is like that too. freaking kids everywhere just wandering around/hanging. i don't know how someone who works in a mall could miss this. this is like, why i do not frequent malls.

and capital is a piece of shit. if you consider a big mall, a bojangles, some shitty ass strip malls, a mexican super market and a lexus dealership classy then ok...its classy.

Perhaps the fight broke out as an expression of justified outrage at the consumerist culture they found themselves surrounded by...

The last time I went into a mall, I was on the verge of knifing people too.

this is why you go to malls at like 10am. get in, get out. all you have to deal with are the old people that come to do their lap walking.

Since it's a mall, and a social spot, yes there are some kids walking from one store to another, talking to each other by the lounge chairs the mall has. You know those chairs are out there for people to sit in. During my four months I certainly didn't ever see a mob of people just standing for long periods of time, unless they were in the food court, while eating food.

Maybe you should drive down capital blvd sometime. Believe it or not, there are also a couple mcdonald's, and a ford dealership (which is quite large), and yes, there are some mexican stores, because there are mexican people in nc...

Sure, this is not a six forks or north hills, but that is most likely because not everyone likes to pay $texas for nothing.

Wow, people really love throwing the term "ghetto" around. Crabtree and TTC are FAR from "ghetto." I know what you're trying to say, but you're coming across pretty damn ignorant.

^^ My point was that NEITHER of those places are "ghetto." Your justification is like saying, "If you think that grain of sand is huge, you should check out this grain of salt." The adjective is incorrect. Period. Bastard.

And that wasn't only to you, but to everyone in this thread incorrectly throwing around the word "ghetto" as an adjective. I mean if the word "ghetto," to you, means that there are black people present, then you are ignorant. Thus, my comment above.

I was talking about the 2 malls. Two of the same thing. Not a mall and a grocery store. Where do you see sand/salt..

Slang. btw. And http://wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn?s=ghetto. So yes, black people could be present when something is referred to as a ghetto.

from your own link,

Quote :
"a poor densely populated city district occupied by a minority ethnic group linked together by economic hardship and social restrictions"

That doesn't have anything to do with either mall or their surrounding areas. Try again. Or did you mean the 1st definition given? That anywhere that a large number of Jewish people are is a ghetto?

And the sand/salt example was to point out that you were comparing two things using an incorrect adjective. Fine... "That grain of sand isn't huge, this one is." Better?

Double post to say whatever, dude.

Bottom line is... the word gets thrown around incorrectly way too much, IMO. You obviously don't think so. What's the point of me arguing my point to you? None. On top of the whole "arguing-Internet-retard" thing, it's a no-win. So whatever, dude. Get your ghetto on.

"a poor densely populated city district occupied by a minority ethnic group linked together by economic hardship and social restrictions"

an area in raleigh where lots of a minority group hang out. could be a mall.

"using an incorrect adjective"

not everything has to be formal on the interwebs. you should know that by now. slang.

But not either of the malls in question. Argh... you pulled me in again.

Maybe I should have included a preface noting that the use of "ghetto" to describe anyplace (even one as nice as TTC) just because there are young black people there is offensive to me. Therefore, I defended my stance on it.

But you're right. Formal definitely isn't necessary. I guess I wouldn't have been offended if this wasn't occuring on a board notorius for blatant racism.

It's all good, man. I don't know you at all and you haven't offended me directly. No worries.

Are people seriously intimidated about driving on Capital Blvd? How is this possible? From 540 to Peace St., it's probably 85% shopping centers and at it's most narrow it's a 4-lane major roadway.

I mean, Tower shopping center can be a little shady, but other than that... wtf are you afraid of?

OK. I said I have never felt unsafe. (Hopefully I haven't just jinxed myself ) You should be fine driving elsewhere though, since Capital Blvd. is the only place carjacking occurs.

Not to be an ass, just saying they can happen anywhere. So if you are going to be strapped, you might as well be, no matter where you go.

Sorry but Capital Blvd is not ghetto, you just need a better frame of reference. Drive around South Dallas or Jamaica Ave in NYC, that's what I call ghetto.

Method Rd behind Food Lion is semi-ghetto but it's not that bad, or try Chavis Heights.

Also, anyone who tries to argue Capital isn't ghetto but Crabtree is obviously has no idea what the definition of ghetto is.

Last I checked, any street that has a giant bingo hall automatically fails the classy test.
