is this gonna be like another sullivans-type place except with a lounge?

I haven't ever been to Sullivan's, but our general manager came from there and so did a lot of employees. It seems like the general consensus is that this place has the potential to be much better than Sullivan's.

^^the only comparison i can draw to sulivans is it's quality of service and food will be equal to, or greater. Its a completely different concept otherwise.

Theres been shitloads of people taking pictures over the past week. I know we took shots of all the food as it went out when we did server tasting. I wonder if/when they'll release some of them.

I think they might be trying to keep the menu under wraps for right now. In a couple of days it will be known publicly I think.

So ive decied this thread is going to be the Solas crew's tww blog.

Tonight went fucking beautifully from the kitchen's perspective. I think we're ready. How's the front end looking?

And no, the menu isnt available yet. But i might be able to be persuaded to leak a few items.

Ahh, well things were paced a lot more realistically, and the kitchen already had a night of hell under its belt, so shit ran fuckin silky.

Small plates range from 8-16
Large plates range form 18-31
Sides range from 5-10

I'll admit, its definitely not a place to try and eat on a budget, but the food really is top notch, and theres something for everyone. Not just a bunch of esoteric "foody" items.

Management thinks the average 2 person ticket will be around $70. More or less depending on what you get.

^ Nice. That was the last big thing that needed to get fixed before we open up, I think. Communication between FOH and kitchen.

Are there any other employees that post on here?

There is a dress code, but they haven't told us what it is. I would say shirt with a collar, pants, and anything but sandals would get you in 100% of the time though.

well I always go out with a button up, nice jeans, and nice shoes. But someone told me tonight that they don't allow jeans...which is the only reason i'm asking.

and I only wear sandals on the beach

if you really have to ask...you probably shouldn't be going. Anyone that has to ask for drink prices more than likely belongs at a college bar.

They'd probably allow you in wearing jeans if you're wearing a nice shirt, but don't quote me on that.

I'm not really a fan of college bars thanks. I'm just a cheap bastard and this particular bar is very unique to Raleigh you have to admit so I was curious. I don't mind paying for a good mixed drink and will tip sometimes over 100% just for not f'n it up. Also helps to get better service later in the evening when it's a mad house.

^^wasn't trying to be a dick. Just saying...if you like cheap drinks...a place like this probably isn't going to have cheap drinks. There are plenty of non-college bars that have cheap drinks too...they just don't look as nice.

aha, well a word of advice...once you become of age, drink as much, and as wide a variety as you can. Wine knowledge is a good servers best friend.

(Lead) Line cook.

So they opened the 2nd and 3rd floors to the public for drinks only tonight. When i left at midnight, the top two floors were filled to capacity so they opened the first floor as well. I was told there was still a line at the door.

If anyone got to go, what did you think?

I went tonight. Food was great. I had the filet, the sliders, and the hot rock. Everything was pretty kick ass.

You can tell that the staff is still working out kinks, but overall I have no complaints.

^ Where did you sit?

Oh yeah, I just got off about 30 minutes ago. Had to work about 11.5 hours today. It fucking sucked. But at least it was fun to be working at a place that was hopping like it was tonight.

Had dinner on the first floor patio then moved to the third floor for drinks. Leslie waited on me. She seemed cool.
