Sparta, NC.... Uhhhh, it was the protagonist's hometown in the Tom Wolfe book I Am Charlotte Simmons. It was going to be the home of the world's largest teapot museum, until George Bush mentioned it specifically (beside the "bridge to nowhere" in Alsaska) as a wasteful use of federal funding. When the president says your idea is stupid, it's pretty much never going to happen.[Edited on August 23, 2008 at 11:13 PM. Reason : ]

Clemmons, NCChris Paula preemptive shut up to all you haters: Hodge was being a poor sport and deserved it. I can support our team to an extent but they crossed the line. Chris was very close to his grandfather and his death was an unfortunate tragedy that shocked the whole community (our entire high school was invited to leave school for the afternoon and attend his funeral)for those who don't know: Chris Paul's grandfather was stabbed & robbed during his senior year, Chris intentionally missed a free throw days later during an away game at Parkland- at 61 game points, the same age his grandfather was, he took himself out of the game just short of the state record for most points during a gamethe infamous punch came after Julius Hodge, his brother, and some teammates said to Chris "i shot your grandpa"watch ESPN's Chris Connelly's Good Morning America report: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxwyE5m44x4technically his parent's house is in neighboring Lewisville, but the school is in Clemmonsalso more broadly, Winston-Salem, NCRJ Reynolds tobacco

^^^^ GIT OUTChris Paul was the dirtiest player in the ACC, the refs just didn't call him on it because he's short (although strong), had a baby face, and was supposedly a "nice guy" off the court.I guess the 2 people he has hit in the nuts so far in the NBA have also deserved it.
8/24/2008 9:17:52 AM
^i put my resentment towards him away, as I did for Kobe over the last 17 days and pulled for team USA. I was surprised as to how unselfish Chris Paul was during the games...very different than how he is in the League.

Havelock is one of eight cities in the world named after Sir Henry Havelock, a British Officer in India, who distinguished himself in 1857 during what was known as The Indian Mutiny. Originally named "Havelock Station" in the late 1850's when the Atlantic and North Carolina railroad built a depot where its right-of-way crossed what is now Miller Boulevard in Havelock. The town was the initial landing point for an American Civil War battle known as the Battle of New Bern. On March 11, Brigadier General Ambrose Burnside's command embarked from Roanoke Island to rendezvous with Union gunboats at Hatteras Inlet for an expedition against New Bern. On March 13, the fleet sailed up the Neuse River, anchored at Slocum Creek, and disembarked infantry on the river's south bank . Elements of the Rhode Island Heavy artillery came ashore near the location of the Officer's Club on Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station and also near the Carolina Pines Golf and Country Club. The Federals captured nine forts and 41 heavy guns and occupied a base. The Federals transited Havelock from New Bern on their way to the Battle of Fort Macon. Despite several Confederate attempts to reclaim the town and the surrounding area, the Federals did not withdraw until after the end of the war.
