No, NC will be very red this year again. I'd bet the farm on it unless McCain leaks his drawers on national TV during the debates.

Not sure yet.
Was 100% McCain but the Palin pick of VP has put a notion of 'no confidence' in trusting McCain to not carry on the same right wing bullshit we have dealt with under Darth Cheney and George Dub. At this point i'd almost say i'm 55% Obama/ 45% McCain; b.c at the worst if Obama wins... 1.) The Jesse Jacksons and welfare queens could no longer use the "white man" as their excuse to their worhtless existence. 2.) Maybe the FUCKING GOP WILL WAKE UP; SHED OFF ITS MOONBAT EVANGELICAL RIGHT WING CHRISTIAN JESUS LAND PLATFORM AND ITS NEO-CON BIG BUSINESS FRIENDLY POLICIES. At this point reverting back to what the GOP is supposed to be about which is Fiscal Conservatism and SMALLER Gov't. Smaller gov't does NOT Equal cutting taxes for your rich buddies, slashing a few social programs to save face with your "conservative" platform, and jacking up spending in your wars for oil as well as pork earmarks for your -R buddies in congress.
McCrory for Gov't
Anybody including Hitler for senate over the Kansas Transplant Dole who is the equivalent of a Hillary for the GOP

Obama/Biden 100%.
McCain/Palin just got entirely silly in the latest ad. seeing he supported sex education for kindergarten kids. it was actual a law against child sex predators.

With Petrobucks Palin on the ticket that pretty much sealed the deal for me voting Obama/Biden. I was privy to her anti-environmental stance long before her seemingly attractive face graced Chit Chat. It will also be nice to have an intelligent and articulate president at the helm. Reminds me of Woodrow Wilson. (Yeah, yeah some of you will now attempt to paint him as a racist. Bite me)

Same with me. I did support McCain strongly but his campaign direction and choice of VP has thrashed my support. With Palin as VP we are one heartbeat away from having a new US Flag....

i love me some McCain, and i loved McCain in 2000 more than you can imagine. the party picked a guy who went awol to snort coke while McCain was serving combat duty - i couldn't get behind that then. and now they pick someone the caliber of Palin over all the other highly qualified candidates out there - i can't get behind that either. it was the straw that broke the elephant's back. if i didn't have a conscience, or had the IQ of most of the folks that vote right as a way of life, i could get behind it -- for better of worse, i fall into neither of those categories." |

NOBAMA 9/12/2008 4:59:42 PM |
HUR All American 17732 Posts user info edit post |
Best Case Scenario:
OBama wins. GOP retakes house and senate (minus Elizabeth Dole of course b.c she is a transplant and has and still does not reside in NC. unless you count changing your mailing address to your mom's house as being a NC citizen)
This would be best case now that Palin is on the ticket and I have grown concerned over McCain's cabinet picks and SCOTUS. This way we get liberal judges in the court to safeguard our right as well as instituting progressive decisions; and a conservative congress to prevent Obama from getting to spend happy. Even better is hopefully the GOP will get enough of a slap in the face by being beat by a half black person that they will have a wake up call.
Perhaps to the point where the GOP goes back to its ideals of fiscal conservative and smaller gov't. Instead of its Christian right bantering, war happy, big business dick sucking, and git-er-dun yelling campaign. I know McCain does not fit into this mold but Sarah Palin does if there was even a better fit. A jesus freak, self described Walmart mom, and whose biggest exec exp. entails governor of a state with a population less than RDU; is not the type of person i want being #2 in this country.
2nd Best Case
McCain/Palin win and a supermajority democratic congress/senate takes over. I get my original pick for president in office. Yet, there is an opposition party on capital hill to curb legislation of McCain's companions get to trigger happy, steer us toward Jesusland, or if McCain picks a "Palin" type character to fill a bench on SCOTUS.
3rd Case Obama wins; democratic congress/senate
Well this sucks because i'll be paying more taxes. Subsidizing every little rugrat whose worthless parents are on welfare and lazy is not something i look foward to. At least this is better than the worst case.
Worst Case
McCain/Palin and GOP on capital hill. Awesome pretty much my fate and the country's is pretty much a dice roll. Does McCain take the country down a moderate reform GOP route; does he surround himself with right-wing neo-con idiots like Bush; is he going to let Palin whisper sweet nothings of Jesus land in his ear; are we going to spend the next 4 years playing world police and blowing up people we don't like; is the "Big Business friendly fuck the avg Joe" policies of Bush going to continue. 9/12/2008 8:29:57 PM |

Barack Obama for President.
Kay Hagan for Senate.
She grew up in NC, and she has served for a decade in our state senate, she will be a way better representative for our state than Dole. 9/19/2008 3:55:02 PM |

BUT ZOMG HAGAN IS A LIBERAL ; SURELY DOLE IS MORE QUALIFIED AND WILL BETTER REPRESENT NC BETTER THAN FOR NO OTHER REASON THAN THE BEAUTIFUL -R SUFFIX AFTER HER NAME.
truly though it is sad that people are such sheep that they will elect someone like Dole who merely used Jesse Helms retirement as an opportunity to gain entrance to the senate utilizing her mom's home address as her own. 9/19/2008 5:17:23 PM |
