At the Teet I might get some chicken salad, a salad, sushi, pizza, randomly a prepared side for dinner...a sub from time to time. They have all sorts of good shit (for a grocery store) in their case, while the best FL can offer is some shitty pasta or potato salad. I don't really get much deli meat/cheese either.

Wasn't there just a story on NPR or elsewhere on this subject? When I heard it I was wondering just how many whole raw chickens these places have that are going out of date. Seems like the supply of rotisserie chickens is higher than the number of ones they could have going bad... 10/21/2014 10:04:24 AM

Right, i tend to pick those things up too... I guess I was more meaning the actual deli counter for sliced meats. There always seems to be a big line at my HT for Boar's Head meat. But it's probably just parents buying lunch meats for the week for all of their kids and not some secret that i'm missing ![](images/beatup.gif) 10/21/2014 10:07:29 AM

If you're shopping the edges of the store (produce, fresh meat/deli/seafood), fuck the Food Rat. For everything up and down the aisles, it's perfectly fine though I try not to go there in general. 10/21/2014 2:03:28 PM

I do miss the teeter. All we have in Denver is King Soopers. It's not as nice as Harris Teeter. There's Whole Foods too and a couple other chains but nothing quite like Harris Teeter. 10/21/2014 2:05:15 PM

I, too, miss the Teeter. None here in Richmond, they skip most of Virginia and then reappear in NoVA. We have a pretty good, and absurdly large, Kroger where I do most of my shopping, and a Fresh Market on the next block if I'm feeling gourmet, but even the mega-Kroger is no match for a good HT. 10/22/2014 10:39:26 AM

There's no HT's here in southern GA. Do have Publix though...which is pretty nice. Although it is more expensive than some of the lower-end grocery stores here in the area. Harvey's is like the bargain grocery chain around here. I'll shop there for staples...especially since its within walking distance of my house. But Publix is nice...I I'll go there for deli and bakery type stuff. Much better selection at Publix too. 10/22/2014 10:51:23 AM

Been walking down the street to a farmers market for ~75% of my food this summer. It's been great. 10/22/2014 11:20:47 AM

I do LoMo Market for produce and eggs, Yellow Dog for bread (which is rare), but HT online for nonperishables and other items 10/22/2014 11:29:13 AM

100 a year for curbside grocery pickup is clearly worth it for a family 10/22/2014 3:45:24 PM

that and it's convenient if you are someone who is a habit shopper and buys the same things. I keep a "master list" on HT that i add to cart and then modify how i see fit. It's mostly produce and fresh meat/dairy. Then if I need any odds and ends or snacks I'll add those. 10/22/2014 3:48:52 PM
