This might not be the right place to ask, but whose voice is that in the "He's the bigges celebrity in the world" ad? Is it one of those movie trailer voice guys? 10/1/2008 11:26:58 AM |

Does it bother anybody else that people are talking about how Biden has to be careful not to embarass Palin too much? I mean, isn't that what he should do? If she's so woefully incapable of presenting and supporting her and her ticket's stance that she's going to be embarrassed shouldn't we see that now? If people are so fucking stupid that they'll sit there and vote based on Biden being a "meanie" perhaps this country is too far gone. Is this or should this be a legitimate concern? 10/1/2008 6:16:48 PM |

i think that is the problem.
This country has gone "too far", so yes, Biden does have to be careful not to come off as a meanie10/1/2008 6:18:59 PM |

Yeah, I kind of thought that based on our last 2 presidents. In both cases we voted for the least qualified person. Bush Sr. was a very good president who had the misfortune of an economic downturn right before the election. Clinton was an adequate president who also had an economic downturn that led to the changing of the guard after his terms were up. Does anyone in their right mind now think that things could actually have been worse with Gore instead of Dubya?
It even seems like our possible choices are getting worse:
92 - Bush v. Clinton v. Perot (two pretty decent choices really) 96 - Clinton v. Dole v. Perot (Dole was the most qualified presidential candidate we've had in the last 20 years, I think Perot really fucked us personally) 00 - Gore vs. Bush (blech) 04 - Kerry vs. Bush (could we have picked two worse candidates) 08 - Obama vs. McCain (under qualified vs. bordering on senility and sometimes sounds insane. McCain reminds me of Perot's VP candidate Admiral Stockdale) 10/1/2008 6:28:11 PM |

PALIN: I do. Yeah, I do.
COURIC: the cornerstone of Roe v Wade
PALIN: I do. And I believe that --individual states can handle what the people within the different constituencies in the 50 states would like to see their will ushered in in an issue like that.
COURIC: What other Supreme Court decisions do you disagree with?
PALIN: Well, let's see. There's --of course --in the great history of America rulings there have been rulings, that's never going to be absolute consensus by every American. And there are--those issues, again, like Roe v Wade where I believe are best held on a state level and addressed there. So you know--going through the history of America, there would be others but--
COURIC: Can you think of any?
PALIN: Well, I could think of--of any again, that could be best dealt with on a more local level. Maybe I would take issue with. But you know, as mayor, and then as governor and even as a Vice President, if I'm so privileged to serve, wouldn't be in a position of changing those things but in supporting the law of the land as it reads today." |

to be fair, the question was "what other decisions don't you agree with", not the rumors that she couldn't name any decisions. In this case, she couldn't (or shouldn't, at least), say something like Brown v. Board, or Plessy, or Miranda.
However, she should have been able to speak at length about the one earlier this summer that said Guantanamo Bay detainees can get a trail in US Courts, because that is one "policy" that she's repeatedly berated Obama about. I assume this jab at the RNC is in reference to the decision:
