9/30/2008 1:02:04 AM
Of course, the best way to tell them how much you hate that policy is to not shop there in the first place

9/30/2008 1:10:29 AM
buddy, i go into home depot sometimes 2-3 times a day, best buy maybe once a week, wal mart maybe once a weekif you think im bulshitting, then just try it once yourselfit was actually very liberating the first time i got to say "no thanks, but you have a nice day" instead of having to go through the 30 receipts in my wallet, all from home depots and walmarts, to prove i didnt steal anythingim not saying be a dick to the greeter/doorman and tell him to go fuck himself on the way out, its not his fault

Normally I wouldn't mind the receipt checking so much, but they never make an effort to check when I'm prepared and have my receipt in handBut of course, the times when I forget and it's extraordinarily inconvenient for me, they always want to check it
9/30/2008 1:16:07 AM
9/30/2008 1:16:28 AM
what do you propose as an alternative. a grocery store and a walmart are arguably different models.
9/30/2008 1:17:25 AM
this is why target has a top flight security guard there
9/30/2008 1:18:07 AM
you sure did stick it to the man. way to go, girl!
9/30/2008 1:19:03 AM
harris teeter is open 24 hoursshe hates wal mart she needed cat litter.they both sell pretty much the same brands.i dont see what her excuse was to go to a place she hated in the first place
9/30/2008 1:19:53 AM
here is an alternativealso 9 times out of 10 i have to hunt down an employee bc there isnt one in sight and when i do they are in a rush to do something else. having more people on the floor AND having them interact with every customer they see can do the same for loss prevention.
9/30/2008 1:20:43 AM
so in the gargantuan walmart you want them to hire multiple ppl to man the floor instead of one guy at the door? that doesnt sound very cost effective. i doubt they need that many people most times during the day as well.
9/30/2008 1:21:59 AM
9/30/2008 1:22:22 AM
well at least employs at other stores can speak english
9/30/2008 1:23:13 AM
my thought is that they've done the math and the multibillion dollar company thinks that the greeter works better in the long run either because...1) hiring and maintaining a worthwhile staff is costly2) the greeter prevents similar or more theft than people meandering about do3) some combination of the two
9/30/2008 1:24:46 AM
I'm thinking it's #4: they're so massive they can easily afford to drive away customers...and have a bunch of other factors working to keep them as the retailer of choice for many americans.
9/30/2008 1:26:21 AM
yes, but independent of the other 3 choices, that wouldnt make much sense either. they'd likely just drop the greeter altogether. losing stuff through theft and stuff through driving business away is somewhat comparable. again, i bet they've done the math.

The correct response is "I don't know, CAN YOU?"
9/30/2008 1:35:14 AM
Dude. I never said it was serious, that I thought I was making a difference, sticking it to the man, or winning. I elected to not show my receipt because I didn't want to. (Which does beg the question: why didn't I? Because I don't consider it a reasonable request. Many people differ, but it's my opinion, and my prerogative. You have clearly decided you don't mind showing your receipt. That's fine, and you're welcome to make that decision. I have made the opposite choice, and as far as I'm concerned, that's that. I'm not trying to convince you to stop showing your receipt)And FYI, I didn't know Wal-mart checked receipts until earlier this year

9/30/2008 1:59:04 AM
It used to annoy the shit out of me that Wal-mart would do that, especially since they only seemed to ask when my hands were obviously full.If they were smart they would slap "thank you" stickers on items like kitty litter so you can easily see it's been paid for. I know supermarkets do this so I don't understand why Wal-mart can't.

THAT'S THE BEST PART ABOUT THIS THREAD, THAT'S THE RETARD THAT WAS COMPLAINING ABOUT PEOPLE NOT WANTING TO SHOW A "BLUE HAIR" THEIR RECEIPT.I GUESS HE'S JUST PISSED OFF THAT HE DIDN'T SHOW SOME RANDOM "BLUE HAIR" HIS RECEIPT AND THEN HE GOT ARRESTED FOR IT. I'D HAVE TAKEN THAT A LOT FURTHER THAN HE DID. WITH NO PROOF OR EVEN ANY SUSPICION OF THEFT, YOU'D BETTER FUCKING BELIEVE THERE WOULD BE A PROBLEM IF I'D BEEN ARRESTED FOR SUCH A STUPID THING. WITH ALL THAT BEING SAID, THERE'S STILL NOT A GOD DAMNED REASON TO SHOW THE "BLUE HAIR" YOUR RECEIPT.
