For men, if the cargo pockets are on utility pants then its ok

For women they're ok regardless.

how can people go out nowadays and carry their (hypothetically) wallet, keys, phone, cigarettes, lighter, chapstick, ipod, and whatever else in regular pants/slacks/shorts?

wallet - back right pocket
keys - front right
phone - back left
cigarettes - dont smoke
lighter - dont need it
chapstick - ok LL Cool J, you can go a few hours without it... apply it at home before you go and when you get back, or leave some in the car
ipod - dont just randomly carry this around with me

see, no problem... even leaves the front left for change, gum, etc.

I carry tons of shit in my jeans/pants pockets...haven't worn big cargo shorts in years (I do have a pair of shorter Columbia cargo shorts that I wear every now and then).

Wallet in back left pocket.
Ipod and/or Blackberry in back left pocket.
Keys in front right pocket.
Mints, chapstick, everything else in front left pocket.

It can be done. I don't normally feel like my pockets are too full...but sometimes I do. And when they are, its usually because I'm carrying too much shit around. But I'm not going to look like a high school Abercrombie and Fitch add just so I have "room" to carry a bunch of shit around.

Uh, I'm a forest ranger under NC GS 113-55, but my regular job is a forester.
I guess that's close enough to a park ranger.

This is why I love summer, cargo shorts let me carry all my stuff comfortably. I dislike sitting on my wallet, because it's thick and uncomfortable to sit on, and I don't want to sit on my phone or MP3 player, so I keep all those things in my front pockets.

With cargo shorts I can carry my wallet, phone, keys, zune, digital camera, and DS lite at the same time.

I usually take most of the stuff out of my pockets when I sit. It's not out of necessity...just out of habit I think.

Yeah, I'm not impressed by cargo pants. Wear something else and show the ladies you know how to dress.

if you care about being fashionably acceptable, then don't buy 'em. They're in the same category as jean shorts.

If you want to wear cargo pants, don't worry about it. just do it and stop worrying what other people think.
Do you really care if *I* think you look like you're in the wrong decade?

Gotta be honest this thread is pretty shocking for me. When I'm just going out casually, I usually wear one of two things: jeans or cargo pants.

where do you work that you don't have one card with different permissions?

very strange.

also, there is nothing wrong with cargo pants at work, as long as they aren't the baggy pocket kind. of course, i wear jorts and a mullet some days, so take that as you will.

i feel like you have to at least be a part of something if you're gonna wear the uniform

like if i had a fire helmet, i'd expect to be a fireman

or if wore a motorcycle jacket, i'd expect to own a motorcycle

this is just me though

making the thread doesn't mean i CARE what OTHERS think

rather, the very fact that i don't care means i'm not up on what's "acceptable" and what isn't...i'm not trying to impress anyone, but if absolutely everyone in this thread compared them to hammer pants or something, i'd avoid them (though i must say, hammer pants are really comfortable)

but since there's debate, i'm cool with wearing them...i'll certainly be more comfortable and it's good to know that not everyone will look at me funny (at the very least)

my key ring is fobless, and only carry 2 keys.

the only wallet i carry is actually a card case that fits the 4 cards i need (see pic below)

dl, cc, work cc, dc (insurance card in the top)

front pocket only.

fuck carrying cash

fuck cargo pants, you loook like a tool.

if you have enough shit to need cargo pockets man up and start carrying a man purse.
