Damn you, Apple. Screwing up a good thing.
I hate that I'm going to lose my cloud-storage music player
There's no way Apple is going to let me keep all my uploaded songs, will they? Or how will they handle the songs that Lala recognized and I was given access to because I own them already (but didn't buy from iTunes)? Does anyone seriously think Apple will continue to grant us the same rights Lala did? I doubt this is a beneficial change for anyone not already tied to Apple.
Sure, it's all speculation on my part, but I'm likely right and you know it. 12/10/2009 5:05:27 PM |

I still say stick with Slacker, esp. if you have a BB, because then you get the advantage of having queued content, so its not nearly as big a deal if you're out of coverage or not, and it doesn't kill your wireless connection all the time. 12/10/2009 7:00:58 PM |

Thanks for the bump...
This sucks, Apple. I hate you for killing Lala.

f*ck Apple for this. never in a million years would i think of Apple as the one to buy a company and then shut it's doors. either it posed a threat, or they bought the talent. 4/30/2010 6:56:40 PM |

this is a sad day indeed.
does anyone know of another music service that allows FULL streaming of songs that isn't a random "radio" player like Last.fm, slacker, or pandora?
the best part about lala was just choosing an album or artist and listening to the entire set. I loved being able to listen in its entirety before buying. 5/5/2010 9:48:56 AM |

i've been using grooveshark when i want to listen to a specific song. i don't think it's as fully featured as lala (never used lala myself), but it's an option 5/5/2010 9:55:55 AM |

I've been using Grooveshark for a while too. Especially with http://www.nanogroove.com
There's a free app on xda, but it doesn't seem as 'polished' as nano. 5/5/2010 11:37:01 AM |

looks like i'll be spending some money before this shuts down to get some albums of lesser known, torrent-less artists. 5/5/2010 2:02:44 PM |

^^In my experience it is very rare that I can't find even fairly unknown bands stuff online via torrents or mediafire etc. unless they are really really unknown. In that case, they are probably local and you should definitely buy the album if you like them enough
I mean, I definitely listen to some obscure stuff and I've rarely had a problem finding anything online unless they were a fairly small band that was around in the early 90s or before or something.
Anyone in particular that you can't find online?

^^ I've never had access to either. But they aren't on the generic Torrentz covered sites nor on Demonoid.
^ The two or three I really want are local, and i don't really mind paying for the albums but if i could find the torrent that would be awesome.
Chatham County Line discography Cast Iron Filter - Paradise in Palestine & Further Down the Road Caitlin Cary & Thad Cockrell - Begonias
Those are the ones i've been unsuccessful in finding. 5/5/2010 7:06:37 PM |

i suppose getting an invite to what is nearly impossible at the moment? i remember reading someone's, i think ViolentMAW, comments about the interview process being extremely pretentious. 5/6/2010 1:11:11 PM |
