I love yogi teas too, I also drink twinings earl grey(pretty much any earl grey is good, I've found...as long as you like earl grey), the tea at barnes and noble is good, I've tried most of them. I also drink some celestial seasonings, they have an apple chamomile tea that I really like.
Republic of tea is good too, and if you buy the loose leaf tea it's a pretty good deal. Their tea bags are pretty weak imo.

lol I missed this first time around but I agree. Although I do wish that the concentrates weren't so damn sweet. Only thing I can use those for is baking or making shakes.

At Fresh Market and I think now Whole Foods they sell this green tea called Oi Ocha. You can buy it in bottles or tea bags. I like this green tea a lot because it doesn't have that grassy aftertaste that a lot of green teas out there have.

I got turned on to loose-leaf tea recently and have been blown away by how much more I enjoy it than most of the bagged tea I've tried in the past. In fact, I never really cared for tea much at all until I started making it the traditional way.

Lately I've been drinking green and red Rooibos teas, but am interested in trying some good Oolong. I prefer my tea relatively rich in flavor, and I'm not big on floral teas. Fruit teas are pretty good as long as the flavor is fairly mild.

Any recommendations? Local shops are a plus, though I am not opposed to buying online.

Does anyone here make their own iced tea and have a brand recommendation?

I like mine unsweet, I add in some powered caffeine to bring it up to coffee standards, and I usually pour in some lemon juice (though I've stopped that atm...gonna use slices instead). I've been using Lipton, but I'm sure there has to be some better tasting brands out there. Any ideas?

Most teas can be made iced. It just depends on what you are looking for. I tend to find anything with floral or herbal notes (i.e. any type of mint) work best, though I've been mostly a hot-tea drinker.

..and I just noticed you mentioned Lipton. So you're probably looking more for instant/Southern teas. I'm afraid I cannot help you there .

i was raised on lipton, but after i went out on my own i tried luzianne because it was on sale once. i like it better.

mint sounds good. there's a restaurant down here that has sweet mint iced tea that is awesome.

Huh? Southern tea isn't instant (I've never even heard of instant tea...that sounds disgusting). It's steeped like hot tea, has a shitload of sugar added to it and is chilled.

I'm just looking for anything that tastes good iced (sans sugar).

didn't know about this thread. I drink a ton of green tea at work. I did a study abroad in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China so I'm pretty partial to Longjing tea but I like Japanese greens too. I have seven jars on my desk at work and one of these, which I highly recommend:



In China I drank out of these but I don't know where to find them in Raleigh



My current supply:
jasmine green tea pearls (brought back from China)
Teavana Dragonwell (Longjing) green tea (this is my staple tea)
Teavana mint green tea (I don't really recommend it, but it's cheap)
Teavana Blackberry Mojito Green Tea (lots of berries, good afternoon tea)
Teavana Bananas Foster herbal (good to mix with the next two)
Teavana Javavana Mate (good coffee substitute, high caffeine)
Teavana Chocolate Decadence oolong (chocolatey with lots of coconut - good dessert tea)

I'm out of the Teavana Gyokura Imperial Green Tea (Japanese) but that was very good, yet expensive.

I think I'm just going to order a pound of Longjing tea from Hangzhou. When I was there it was so fucking dirt cheap and as good or better than Teavana. That being said, Teavana is kind of a rip off but it's convenient to just pick up at Crabtree

I used to be all about green tea but I've come to prefer Asian blacks and chais lately, which is weird because I used to hate chai tea. Something snapped and now I can't get it spicy enough. Masala chai is fantastic.
