just wanted to see how they were, but you're selling them.

im thinkin about getting a laptop during black friday. i really wanted an IBM T series (used with employee discount from IBM)...

but hopefully something on black friday can spark my interest.

no i'm keeping one and maybe selling the other, depending on what the wife wants to do. so far its fine, but i haven't really tried to do much with it yet. i do have a question about vista though....how do you run a file? i swear i must be stupid, because the start menu doesn't seem to have a "run" option.

also, i prefer the classic start menu over the gayed up XP and vista views

I doubt you'll be able to sell it for much more than you paid. Wal-Mart has run the same deal a few times before. I decided to hold out for a better deal.

Is it just me, or all of the ads being posted this year extremely shitty?

It's like retailers see that the economy is shitty and their prices are still jacked up.

Me too, and the prices are shit.

Buy.com has a 37" Westinghouse for $550 right now, which is better than ANY deal I've seen from B&Ms.

I'll probably get that washer / dryer combo on the front page of bfads.net right now (from Sears). Also looking for a good deal on a Canon XSi and a camcorder but have yet to see either.

so to get the doorbusters, do you pretty much have to camp out the night before?

yup.. best buy/ jercuit city, you might as well get there around 5pm.. eat an early dinner and go.

we were 15th in line 2 years ago at circuit city. a good spot for the door busters. they have flyers that they pass out and if you dont want it then they ask the next person in line.

i guess it was worth it, i was with my sister and cousins. bought 3 cameras and a video camera. saved $400 just myself.

'Reportedly' the Ubuntu base model of the mini 9 netbook will be 300. You can customize (ie add on, spend more) beyond that obviously.

what if I don't want the doorbusters and just want some good dvd sales. Can I show up at 9AM on Friday? Circuit City has some good dvd prices and I want to round out my collection a little bit.

yeah that wouldnt be a prob

i think when i was there they opened the store at like 6am or 7am.. they had pretty good security to help stop the people who thought they could just sneak right in.

we were in and out in like 30mins. all 4 of us.

as the marketing manager of a Sears in the area I agree that this year's deals are not dumbfounding. In the past I have worked in electronics on BF mornings and deals were better. But the overall prices of stuff has come down in electronics anyway, so it was take rediculous deals to get the attention of people.

However we expect this BF to be one of the busiest ever b/c a lot of people will just probably shop this ONE day and be done with Christmas shopping. Plus we added layaway this year so that could increase it too

(god I hate layaway)

Just so you all know, ads for the Chirsmas season already exist at the corporate level but we get notifications every day to put certain stuff on sale. You might want to look at websites for B&M stores all season long for deals as ads cannot be 'printed' as fast as people think.

Also anybody notice Tweeter is almost closed?

black Fridays have always sucked if u're looking for decent stuff. if u are looking for the absolute cheapest laptop,tv , dvd player etc. it's great . but for decent quality ish u can find better deals online or throughout the yr.

that is so true. a LOT of the stuff is produced just for this ONE day. I mean there will be a few good items but a majority is lowend stuff. BUT the people who buy this stuff really don't care. I remember an absolute feeding frenzy on no name brand MP3 players about 2-3 years ago.

last year was no name digital picture frames. I think people will see the difference in tvs, but smaller gifts no big deal. We have a stockroom of BF ONLY do NOT put out stuff and some if it actually are Samsung and Sharp products...............................redbadged from last years models which is about as good as BF stuff gets though.

laptop deals I honestly believe are the best draw overall, TVs second.

I've scanned this thread but haven't really searched for this yet, but I was wondering if anybody knows of any deals on Blu-Ray players that won't require me to camp out. I've been waiting for them to drop under $200 before I get one.

Which store you at? Never met ya.

I get the dubious honor of being a BC Lead this black friday. We're pretty sure the garbage TVs they've got in the ad are gonna sell, just not sure how fast.

I promise that Sharp on the front page will be gone quick, similair deal last year was the same way............

all cheap mp3 players will be gone

all picture frames in the department will be gone too, regardless of price

edit: probably shouldn't say what we got but I think most people know. I will not directly answer any questions though

^Whats the quality on those Nextar 7" picture frames? I wanna get a couple digital frames for my parents/grandparents but I would like one thats not absolute shit. Are these alright and do you imagine they will be cleared the hell out ASAP Friday?

they are not too bad really, I won't directly say how much something will cost is what I meant by the last comment

some frames don't have all the memory card slots or can't play video. Or not built in storage requiring you to buy an SD card. but yeah every advertised frame and probably most of the rest will be gone on Friday I'm guessing

remember this is the day people come out of the woodwork to buy, its a good people watching day too, like the fair
