people do that?

if you voted libertarian chances are your going to get shit on.

except from other libertarians.

i know more people who vote for the more popular choice without knowing what was going on.
i actually know a few closet mccains claiming obama because they didnt want to admit it to their friends.

ahhhh, what this world has come to.

Less people vote for third party candidates, so obviously, that would be correct for the majority. The trend I was pointing at was the people that actually believe they are more educated in regards to their choice of a third party candidate. The irony is that in their attempts to be different from the pack, they are indeed no different and perhaps even more delusional than the people they label as dumb.

Hah.

Yes, this is a great idea. Because we should put our well-being in the hands of a corporation that is profit oriented.

This is especially good because a corporation is not accountable to the voting public at all.

I'm sure they will put our best interests at heart... right?

...right?

You fucking idiot.

This is the exact point that I'm establishing. A clear lack of understanding of the issues with an increased desire to be different from the masses does not equate to changing our political system or actually being more educated or unique. In fact, your candidates policies will be stolen. Historically, all third party candidates progressive and compelling ideas in the United States are absorbed by the two major party's eventually, if they are adaptable. If they are not adaptable, then they are simply too radical to begin with.

^^^ and you think our government does??

its competition that makes cooperation better... if you're willing to pay for better service cleaner power etc... it will be provided.... if there is a will there is a way...

Cut taxes down to nothing and give us the ability to show our own morals in our own lives...

When have you ever been to the dmv and said...wow they really care about customer service.

have you talked to a Canadian about their health care?
most of them don't like it that much.

how about the fcc don't you just love how they censor everything??
Shouldn't that be your responsibility? Why should you pay someone to make it so you can't watch tv.

You realize we fail in almost every health, wellness, and science category worldwide, don't you? (Apparently spelling, as well)

All of these things that we trust to private corporations here are run more efficiently and with interests that benefit the people more in European countries.

Do you really think that Cigna, Humana, and all of these health insurance companies and HMOs that regularly fuck people like you and me over each and every day make things BETTER here?

Why have the government do anything?

By god, let's not even HAVE a government, right? You can maintain your own roads. You can make your own electricity. And when you get injured, you can go find a random doctor and he can charge whatever he wants.

science... no...

health yes we're fat with heart problems but atleast if you can afford treatment you fucking get it here...

Canada has huge lines for treatment... and why would doctors stay where they don't get paid as much...

Why would the best doctors stay where they're not rewarded for being the best? ??

They're more interested in making a profit. Obviously. And this would not be a negative thing if the price of health care weren't massively inflated due to factors stemming from government involvement. The reason so many people can't afford healthcare is because it's more expensive than it would naturally be in a free market system.

You know that, I'm sure. You're just trying to troll out a point on some other slightly-less-informed people in here.

Hooray, so now 5% of the population can afford proper healthcare.

Let me know what the other 95% is supposed to do.

Um, they are... with big fat paychecks. That doesn't equate to people getting proper healthcare.

Quote :

i.e.

When will people realize that this country is built upon the backs of the poor people? The janitors, the housekeepers, the food servers, the delivery men. THEY make up the majority, and they're all poor because the richest 5% does everything they can to keep them down. Who the fuck are you to say that they deserve their poverty? You can take a 3% increase in your taxes. Fucking deal with it so the rest of the country does better.

yes, those of us who are managers hope that the people under us fail

you are confusing your desire to be charitable and help others with what is appropriate to legislate

So... simply taking this statement as it stands...

1. The country is built upon the backs of workers and the poor.
2. Said poor workers are all poor because the rich are oppressing them.
3. If said oppression were removed (as you imply that it should be), then these people would be able to stop being poor workers and get higher-paying jobs. All of them.
4. Given 3, if such oppression is removed, there are no longer any janitors, housekeepers, food servers, and deliverymen in the nation.
5. Given 4 and 1, the country is now built upon nothing.
6. (speculative) Given 5, the country now collapses due to lack of foundation, or falls down such that the country is again supported on the backs of the very people that just rose out of poverty, bringing them back into poverty or working class jobs.

Your reasoning is so immaculate, it's like I can't find any flaws in it at all.

I would argue that there's a general trend of corruption of the free market via the legislature and that said corruption trends towards establishing market barriers that have no foundation in market efficiency. I would also argue that such corruption tends to subjugate the masses to the benefit of the wealthy.

In general it's a solid bet that wealthy = intelligent... at least average or above-average anyway. It's certainly MUCH easier for someone to keep existing wealth than to build it, but that's irrelevant...

Still, did you just make a pro-corruption argument?

^^^^I am sorry but you are so wrong it's hardly worth getting into

I will, however, indulge you with a bit of argument though. The most obvious and mathematically derived counterpoint I can come up with off the top of my head:

average measured IQ of the offspring of two above average individuals trends back towards the global average, while a significant fraction of wealth in the upper echelons is hereditary.

no corruption

everyone has the same ability to undermine the government - it's just that the intelligent actually take advantage of that

should some who takes advantage of a legal system be punished? i say no.
