How does Godric show up if he met the sun (in the books and in the show)?

no...Eric's maker in the books is an older vampire named Appius.

Godfrey (Godric in the show) was just an old child vampire that liked to feed on children, not Sheriff of Area 9 in Texas (Stan was Sheriff and a nerd not a badass cowboy), that just went missing. Eric was just merely concerned about an old vampire being kidnapped so he asked Sookie to help out. There was no personal connection.

Who could the family member be? Another fae? Couldn't be her cousin's son... I am confused. And I am sad I am going to have to wait all the way till spring to find out.

i have a question, do Zombies exist at all in the books? i mean has anyone been brought back from the dead long after they lived?

No. No zombies, or anyone brought back from the dead. There is witchcraft and apparitions are brought back to find out how they died, but that's the extent of life after death in the books.

i thought about putting this in the show thread, but i think it's best served in here since it does have spoilers, and some of the questions the interviewer asks only one that has read the books can possibly ask.

SO...SPOILER WARNING here's a link to an interview with Alan Ball about the conclusion of season 2, changes made from the books to fit the series, and what elements may come for season 3 from Club Dead

Well the books are written from a very feminine point of view I think and limits the reader's experience explicitly to Sookie's experiences. I think True Blood does a great job in ensuring that each character is well developed through their relationships with other characters.

All in all, it's still a good read.

new cast member number 2 & 3 announced:

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/television/news/e3i4c19162f98c244882eb7d1cf91cc3ffd

Quote :
"Marshall Allman is joining the cast of HBO's "True Blood" as a regular for the show's third season.

Meanwhile, Shannon Lucio has landed a guest role on the vampire drama.

Allman will play Tommy Mickens, the long-lost younger brother of Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell) who works at a Tire Depot in Arkansas.

He is the second new series regular cast on Alan Ball's drama following the hire of Denis O'Hare as Russell Eddington, the Vampire King of Mississippi.

Lucio will play Caroline Compton, the wife of Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) who lived during the Civil War. Amber Dawn Landrum played the character in a flashback on the show's first season.

Production on the third season of "Blood" begins this week in Los Angeles."

Still no Alcide Herveaux cast yet...

new cast member 4 & 5...and Kristen Bauer (Pam) is moving to the permanent cast role instead of guest star--w00t!

recently cast has been Talbot (Theo Alexander) and Coot, the leader of the werewolf biker gang, (Grant Bowler)

http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2009/12/08/breaking-true-blood-promotes-pam/

And I guess this is the best thread for cast announcements versus the other thread. Since they are primarily casting people from the books and new characters might be considered a spoiler to non-readers...except for Sam's brother and Bill's wife. Anywho! YAY PAM!

im going to be very careful with how much of this thread i read because i'm just starting up

i got books 1-4 at the library and read book 1 in two sittings. im also netflixing true blood and i'm almost done with season 1. its fun for me to read ahead of the show then see how the show portrays it. i know i will get way ahead of the show once i get deeper into the series but the books are really quick to read and interesting. time just flies by.

i look forward to reading more of the thread once i finish more of the books and tv series

I just started Dead and Gone. I want to read it super slow since Dead in the Family won't be out for a few more months. Any other books I should pick up to read while waiting? Someone suggested the blood brother novels but I don't know much about them.

im going to read another series by charlaine harris

grave sight is the first book

Quote :
"Ever since Harper Connelly survived a zap from a lightning bolt, she's been able to find dead people, a skill that makes the protagonist in the first installment of Harris's new series a tad more bizarre than the mind-reading heroine of the author's Sookie Stackhouse books (Dead as a Doornail, etc.). Harper travels to the Ozark town of Sarne, Ark., to find a missing teenage girl's body, accompanied by her stepbrother, Tolliver, who acts as her manager and bodyguard and with whom she shares a thinly disguised physical attraction that they manage to keep at bay by engaging in casual sex with various partners. Finding the body takes no time at all, but leaving town afterward isn't so easy. When Harper's life is threatened and Tolliver ends up in jail on trumped-up charges, it quickly becomes apparent that something sinister is going on in Sarne. Harris delivers a knuckle-gnawing tale populated with well-developed, albeit edgy characters. A nifty puzzle toward the end will challenge the most jaded mystery buffs. "

Read Dead In The Family...Not my favorite. I waited for this book for months and now I'm like...THAT'S IT? Really unimpressed. Jumped around too much, no real action...Sookie just kinda floated through the entire book.

Yeah I'm not the biggest fan of it, but I didn't hate it. I agree there was no real action and Sookie just kinda floated around, but at the same time as over the top and packed full of action book 8 & 9 were I felt a slower pace and more establishment of Sookie & Eric's relationship was needed.

Hopefully the next will pick up the pace a bit.

I was also kinda hoping for more with the Sookie Eric storyline....or the Bill and his sister line. Anyhow, agreed. Maybe the next will pick up the pace. Also, when is the next one coming out?

I checked her website earlier when I posted, but there wasn't a release date yet. Seems like it's always a May release, so my guess is next May.

And yeah, the Bill/vamp sister storyline was pretty interesting and I wish that was fleshed out more. unfortunately we don't get as much w/ it all from Sookie's perspective (a reason I love TB...more perspective + new directions/better fleshed out plot lines in some cases [except Maryann--wtf]) so I'm sure that's why.

My hero!

So I watched the 1st 8 min after game of thrones went off

Jesus that was bad...cheesy effects...just hurt...

BUT! They seem to be, like many other story lines, introducing the fae conflict earlier which is good and i can get behind that.

The end is near http://io9.com/5821203/charlaine-harris-13th-sookie-stackhouse-novel-will-be-her-last-true-blood-book

And anyone upset that Claudine is dead in the show? Anyone think it might not have been her? (another fae is disguise mayhaps?? This was suggested by my SIL). Personally I'm not upset. I think the show has gotten crazy adding new characters that aren't in the book (except Jessica...good addition w/ her), and just adding characters in general. If anything this will really kick start the fae war (if they are going there).

The one dead character I wish was still alive like the books is Calvin Norris.
And I'm not upset about Sophie Ann cause ERW ruined her for me over time.

I thought it was a good book. I finished it on Sunday. It definitely moves at a slightly slower pace, and it's more fae than previous books. I liked it, but I was bothered by some of the plot (just felt very contrived and woe is me). When you're finished, we can complain about the cliffhanger ending together!

It's killing me to wait another year until the next one.

Yep, but I think it's time to end it. Although I don't know why Charlaine Harris won't make Sookie a vampire. I think she'd be a bad ass vampire.

I'm making my way through Season 4 of the series. I dislike Bill so much more watching the series than I did in the books. I think before watching the shows, I would have been happy with a Sookie/Eric, Sookie/Sam or a Sookie/Bill ending. After watching the adaption, I don't think I want Sookie to end up with any of them, except maybe Eric just a bit.
