Jaybee will call me a moron.. but Urban Meyer, one day, will be the Notre Dame head coach.

Not saying it's going to happen this year, but one day he will...

lol and the first google search from a week ago:

Basically his wife turned them down. He has never backed down from it being his "dream job." If Florida wins next week it absolutely won't happen, but if he loses... it makes it interesting at the very least.

*** Like I said, I don't think the time is right yet, but it will be within the decade...

gotcha, read the article you linked (or what showed up for me)..

very interesting though, that's gotta make some Florida fans uneasy... I guess if his son is still young he may stick with UF for awhile, like you said

NO WAY he leaves Florida.

TEBOW will be a senior next season.

That defense starts 0 seniors and only 4 juniors.

Percy Harvin, Jeffrey Demps, Chris Rainey are Junior, Freshman and Freshman respectively

THIS TEAM WILL BE LOADED NEXT SEASON

No way he leaves this season

Don't be naive. I don't think it will happen at this time, partly because I think UF romps Alabama... but to say "no way" is being unrealistic...

The biggest things working against ND if they were to pursue Meyer are:
The Gators know Meyer is a target. They can preemptively work to keep him financially.

It is easier to recruit at Florida than at Notre Dame. I'm talking logistics. Proximity to talent.

Jeremy Foley is a better AD than just about anyone.
The biggest things working for ND are the total size of their wallet, and the fact that they are Notre Dame. My prediction: Meyer will be the highest paid coach in football starting next year, and the beneficiary of the ND rumor mill. And still a Gator.

Well Urbs has said now that he will discuss it after the SEC title game so to say that "NO WAY he leaves Florida" is a little premature.

this is another article about why Urbs would go to ND.
its a little old but this was the first i had seen of it.

my appologies for a repost if so:
http://www.floridatoday.com/article/20081120/COLUMNISTS0306/811200343/1065/SPORTS
Quote :
"In his authorized biography "Urban's Way," written with former FLORIDA TODAY sports editor Buddy Martin, Meyer refers to his Big Three coaching jobs, the only three his wife Shelley has no veto power to block him from taking a job at. They are Notre Dame, Ohio State and Michigan.

Of those three, Meyer's self-proclaimed "dream job" -- his quote, not mine -- is Notre Dame, where he was once an assistant under Lou Holtz, spending five years with the Golden Domers. Meyer also spent the first two years of his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Ohio State, where he earned his master's degree. He is an Ohio boy who grew up revering Woody Hayes.

So why didn't Meyer take the Fighting Irish job in 2004? Because the timing wasn't right. His authorized biography explains, "Florida's biggest advantage would turn out to be Urban's and Shelley's desire for a strong family life, because he could recruit closer to home."

At Notre Dame, you recruit nationally, which means flying around the country, away from home a lot more. At a state school like Florida, you can recruit a kid, or several kids, during the day, and still be home for dinner, or at one of your kid's practices, that night. With a young family, that mattered a lot. But even with that in play, turning down Notre Dame was very difficult, as Meyer notes in this passage in his biography:

"I wanted to go to Notre Dame," Meyer admitted, "but my family wanted to talk about going to Florida."

Shelley knew how tough the decision was for her husband because "he left his heart at Notre Dame when we left there last time -- he really, really, really loved Notre Dame."

That's "really" loved three times, if you're scoring at home.

So, again, the main reason Meyer chose Florida over Notre Dame in 2004 was because he had a young family."

TUBERVILLE FIRED

"AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - Auburn has dismissed Tommy Tuberville after 10 years as coach of the Tigers. That word came Wednesday from The Birmingham News. There was no immediate confirmation from Auburn officials.

Tubberville was 85-40 in his decade with Auburn, including a 13-0 season in 2004 when the Tigers finished No. 2 in the nation. But Auburn went 5-7 this year and was routed 36-0 by rival Alabama, currently ranked No. 1."

FFS and people said State fans have unrealistic expectations.

Programs are firing coaches only a few years after being jobbed out of the national championship game by the BCS?!

I can't believe TT is out. Auburn's crazy. They fired a guy with a winning record against bama who also went undefeated in the SEC.

Is the SEC eroding, losing Tuberville, Fulmer and Croom? I think all three schools we be lucky if they find replacements that match the success of the guys they fired.

SEC coaches be warned. Your one bad OC away from getting hit in the ass by the door.

Croom doesn't belong on that list... he didn't have any success that can't be replicated by many other coaches.

Croom represented MSU well. He needed a little more time to develop the players and showed glimpses of what he could have built. The popular thought is that someone high up wanted him to get rid of his OC, but he wanted to keep his staff in-tact, so rather than firing his OC he stepped down on his own. It's not like he had a lot of talent to work with anyways.

I know. What I mean is that MSU wasn't exactly a place that you could bring in top recruits all the time. They can't exactly recruit with LSU, Auburn, Alabama, Tennessee, UGA, and UF. Heck they can't even really keep up with Arkansas. Croom did have a nice looking class so far though. #21 in the nation according to Rivals. It'd probably drop outside of the Top 25 when all is said and done, but it would still be better than their classes that were in the 40s.

Tuberville and Fulmer both did great things at their schools but their time was up. The SEC has evolved and these schools wanted to go in another direction.

I would love for Tuberville to land in the ACC or back in the SEC.

Fulmer would be a good coach at somewhere like West virginia or Texas A&M
