stop being a prick or I'll get my American friends to eat that cow in your backyard. Also, I might just call animal control in US and they'll come and take the cow.

Ronny sorry about it, i personally am against posting unnecessary shit on TWW but this punisher is Indian and making fools out of all of us (americans as well as Indian) by posting exaggerated things about India and pretending like he knew nothing about India.
Quote : | "Why is someone who registered an account with arvinda.ahuja@yahoo.com asking about India and indian food?" |
We know our country is developing and there are a lot of problems but it hurts when someone draws a worse picture of India than it actually is in front of those who has never been there. (its more irritating when an Indian does so)
Grow up punisher (i fear you hate you parents too because they are Indian and may be you hate yourself for not being born in US but India) broaden your thinking this whole world is our home.11/28/2008 12:38:42 AM |

Stop lying to us Americans, you know your country has lots of rats and stray animals all over. Other day I saw some old man on an Elephant dressed up in some Indian outfit yelling at people walking by. I told my English speaking driver to get the fuck out of there. 11/28/2008 12:45:23 AM |

Dude piss off
It's okay, if your country is a little dirty and you should be proud of it. It is improving but hygiene is not important here maybe that's why they don't bother cleaning the place up. On the other hand I can understand food is more important than a deodorant and water. Just thank all your buddies there in US for welcoming you to the land I love and now you can have food and deodorant on the same day.
Land of the free I love you.

I am from an Indian state which contributes 50% to the central grain pool inspite of having only 1.6 percent of total geographical area of India, it has highest per capita income and my city holds the tag of highest number of Mercedes and you are talking about deodorant and water ? I am glad that such small things are not an issue with the majority of Indians and i also hope that this majority ll help their poor Indian fellows.
If you have seen such worst conditions in India (but i personally dont feel all you said is complete truth) and you are really concerned bring this issue up in a positive manner. Non resident Indians are playing an important role in helping the poor in India look for those organisations (only if you care and if you dont then stop this useless talk)
Thanks!11/28/2008 6:33:02 AM |

STOP it man you are such a liar, like I said it's okay if you are from 3rd world country. In America, we help all the needy even if we have to eat one less drumstick. We even take loans to help others and make our own tax payers take the burden. We feed the hungry, Americans got a big heart. 11/28/2008 7:20:43 AM |

is there anyone actually in the know about traveling to india? apparently i'm heading there next month. I'm not sure of the actual destination. There's an engineering office i need to visit either in Mumbai or New Dehli, but the actual job site is in Chhapra, Bihar. Chhapra looks pretty 3rd world. I'm both excited and a little freaked out. 2/24/2009 10:04:21 PM |

im from mumbai and if you're in one of the big cities (mumbai/delhi/bangalore etc), you shouldn't have any problems. you might struggle in bihar though! good luck

If you are going to Bihar, I'd suggest you go with one of your Indian colleagues in your Mumbai or Delhi offices. Bihar is pretty under developed and backward and few people speak english. But people are really nice. 2/24/2009 10:40:14 PM |

the trip next month will probably be for just a week or two. this is the start of the project, so we are just going to establish contacts and sit through a bunch of meetings. i'll probably be heading to bihar later this summer for a month or so. from what i understand, they are putting up a hotel for the suppliers and contractors to stay in so they don't have to stay in the local establishments.
seriously, how much do you have to worry about getting sick and all that? 2/24/2009 10:48:11 PM |

Almost every Indian company building a large Power Plant, Steel plant, Cement Plant etc does this. Because typically these plants are in remote places where there is hardly any infrastructure. So they build their own guest houses, quarters for employees and even schools/hospitals for employees and their families if needed.2/25/2009 9:16:29 AM |

My company is supplying some process equipment going into a new plant for India Rail. I'm the project engineer, so I'll probably go oversee the installation when the time comes. Should be interesting.
This is probably a dumb question, but assuming I'm in a major city, is there any chance there will be wireless internet access, and if so, will it work with my laptop? Do I need special equipment to make this happen?
Also, where do I get a 240v/50Hz transformer?2/25/2009 10:00:10 PM |

Finally heading over next month, really trying to get some insight. I'm going to be between Patna and Delhi. It looks like I'll only be there a week, and probably will have a free day to sightsee/do whatever in Delhi. Any chance of seeing the Taj Mahal?

Your laptop charger will likely work in 230V / 50 Hz
Look on the label and see. The only thing you'd need is a plug adapter. They use a BS 546 Type D (I think)] 9/21/2009 8:08:16 PM |

Wifi is the same everywhere. But I wouldn't necessarily count on it being everywhere. I know in Japan at least, it's a bitch to find places with wifi, even in Tokyo. 9/21/2009 8:21:04 PM |

Airtel and Tata Indicom are two national cell phone providers who also provide wifi cards. You may want to check in at their Delhi airport stores when you land there. Joe#### is right w.r.t. charger.
Patna is in the impoverished region of the country. So you have to be mentally prepared for that.

my trip keeps getting pushed back. we finally got the business issues worked out, but now my contact in india who is in charge of setting the meetings up has been in the hospital with yellow fever and pneumonia. he was released from the hospital, only to have to return to the hospital to determine why his heart is only operating at 25% capacity. i've met him once, he's the largest Indian I've ever seen, easily 6'5" and looked very strong/healthy. i hope he's okay, but its kind of scary. 11/11/2009 11:19:35 PM |
