contacts.

that and the company that i was doing contract work for notified another company in the area looking to hire the people they laid off. so i just called them up on my way home and had an interview set up for this afternoon. i was there an hour and a half.

the problem with taking another job when you get laid off, is that if you make over a certain amount, you lose your unemployment benefits.

I was getting 397 dollars a week to sit around and do nothing, but if i had made more than 75 or 80 dollars a week with a part-time job, then i would have lost those benefits.

If you are getting UEB, I suggest finding out what your weekly allowance is, and try and make money off the books.

^ i was a contract employee so there is no UEB. plus, no offense, i'd rather work for my money than take a handout. that's just a personal thing though. i have an education and a good work ethic, so i'll be fine.

there are people out there who need that way more than me.

no offense, but I dont find making 397 dollars a week that enticing when as an ME he can easily work a job and get twice that. I mean sure its nice to get money when you're not doing anything but I would certainly want to be finding a new job asap.

good luck d7freestyler

At the minimum fucking work at McDonald's or something while you're job hunting. It'll keep you from sitting on your ass and feeling sorry for yourself, you won't burn through your savings as quickly, and having a shitty job is just more motivation to find a good one."

Not when you can make more on unemployment than you could working for minimum wage. Unless you run out of time on the unemployment then there is no reason to take a shit job. Its not a hand out, its your money that you paid in you are just actually getting to use it this time.

aww, that sucks man. I hope everything works out for the best. I'm sure you'll find something soon.

If not, and you feel like moving, let me know. I know we're usually looking for both new hires, and ex. pro's. here at Lockheed. I would be willing to put in a good word for you.

I was laid off on July 2nd, got a new job on September 2nd.

Then quit that job for a better one on Oct 13th.

You'll be okay, but file for that unemployment with a quickness.

You were working in housing, you should look into commercial and industrial. A lot of that translates over.

I gotta tell you, over the summer I was out of work for a medical reason and then laid off. I only worked 4 days total between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Thats a long time, but I could have cared less about returning to work. I wasn't in the least bit bored. I know people say you get restless and want to get back to work. Fuck no, not me If it wasn't for the debt piling up and all the things I couldn't do b/c of lack of money I'd have no problem not working
