MOtherfucker... sirius dropped Backspin? and is now censoring "The Heat"... what the fuck is this crap... the same damn reason I dropped XM after the free trial in my truck and returned to Sirius.

I mean seriously there are 23 channels dedicated to "rock" and 5 to country, but hip/hop and rap only get 3??? honestly? Horrible decision making on somebody's part. They omitted a huge section of the hip hop history with backspin.... but XM keeps "the groove" which sucked ass? dammit all to hell.

^ yeah, definitely disappointed in the rap selection now. and it seems like the stuff on hip hop nation is starting to be more and more mainstream (blending with The Heat). if i have to hear that ether boy song one more time i'm gonna shoot someone.

To eleusis - at first I wasn't a big fan of Shade 45 either, but then i discovered the All Out Show, on from 4:00-8:00 M-F. DJ's are pretty funny, play good music, and the Drunk Mix (Tuesday/Friday, 7-8:00) and Pill Mix (Thursday 7-8:00) are great. Especially the Pill Mix. Word!

Wasn't The Heat always censored? I thought only Raw and The Rhyme were uncensored.

and btw, Lucy>Lithium...

^ yeah, The Heat was scensored, but the Sirius equivalent (hot jamz), wasn't. So now sirius subscribers got a scensored equivalent, just plain silly.

quick question for XM subscribers - i live outside of NC and can't get State games on FM radio. do the XM sports broadcast stations often have the State football/basketball games? considering getting the "XM on Sirius" upgrade if it will provide me with the occasional wolfpack broadcast....

Faction
Hard Attack
Area 33
Sirius Hits 1
Lithium
Howard 100
Raw Dawg Comedy

...merger didnt do much to me.

The ACC channels should have much of if not ALL of the state football and basketball games on there. the only thing is you get the home team radio broadcast. when state is at home you'll hear the state guys. on the road you'll get whoever they are playing.

and now from what I could tell this morning "Hip-Hop Nation" is now censored... WTF? I was listening to "Stan" by Eminem... and it was the same damn version they play on the radio... This is horrible.

Hip Hop Nation has turned to crap. They had a Keysha Cole song on it last night - since when has Keysha Cole been hip-hop?? and I've heard nothing but Unk and Jim Jones and T Pain the last two days.

i can understand Hits 1 being censored, that's all fine and well but when i pay 12 bucks a month for commercial free radio i also expect the cuts to be raw. ESPECIALLY HIP-HOP

ok so hip-hop nation is uncensored after 10PM... geeze i mean seriously Hits 1 has always been censored... but i pay to hear uncensored music the way the artist intended it... not the garbage ways that they try to censor music, dammit all i might just be ending the 3 subscriptions that I have and spend the money saved on cd's.

I am curious if the SDARS had a max number of XL channels they could broadcast or something.

I noticed after the merger that SquiZZ had the XL tag removed when they added the Best of Sirius, which added XL channels for Howard and Playboy radio. They didn't censor the channel or anything though. Even when it combined with Octane it still uses all of the same music tracks uncensored. So why is it now not considered an XL channel and why are they censoring other ones? I don't get that shit at all.

^ even more confusing is that not all songs on Hip Hop Nation are censored - listened yesterday evening for about 30 minutes, and about half the songs were censored, half not. Which begs the question - who the hell are you pleasing with that type of policy?

ok so I got pissed off after getting the "if you liked 43 - backspin you'll like 40 with their 1 hour old school channel" response.

So i picked up the phone and called. The lady was super nice and said that they are receiving TONS of complaints each day and that 43 being gone is one of the biggest ones. Also talked about having the music censored and they said that they are compiling a list of complaints and the like and that there will be another lineup change coming, they just didn't know when. I told them that if nothing changed in the next couple of months that my 3 accounts are gone, and she said "I've made the note and trust me you aren't the only one."

crazy... considering the economic trouble that the company is in you would think they would be bending over backwards to keep customers right now...

I was listening this morning to Lithium and realized it is censored too. That is one of the main reasons why I am paying for satellite radio is so I don't have to listen to this bullshit cookie cutter music.

reading a lot of forums there are TONS of people complaining about the new format and the usage of censored music. I'm with you, I pay to hear the music the way the artist intended it... not how they had to edit it to be played on FM.

All I can say is to call and complain

So after having been dealing with this for a month now, what do you think? Have you gotten used to the new channels? Still pissed about any? I heard the problem on Hip Hop Nation was that when they combined tracks from XM and Sirius that some of the XM songs were censored and they got thrown in the mix or some shit.

I personally am getting fairly used to it. Not seeing a huge difference for better or worse on Octane from SquiZZ. Lithium is pretty good, so I can't fuss there. I used to not be a big fan of the punk channel, but I am kinda enjoying Faction. Also Liquid Metal is maybe a little bit better than before. Those are the main stations I have been listening to. Hair Nation is okay, but I will be glad when Boneyard is back.

my lineup from serious basically remains unchanged. only difference is Faction.

It used to basically be like hip hop nation and octane jammed together, which was nice for someone like me who likes both hip hop and rock. punk is ok, but theres too much of it now and the playlist doesnt seem really deep. they have some shows that are more like the old stuff but it is hit or miss. otherwise no real big changes.

well at least they got Hip Hop Nation back to its original format. But I'm still pissed about not having Backspin.

On a similar note after calling them I've been sent numerous surveys and hope things are going to get better

BTTT.

Be warned. For those of you, like me, who listen to siriusXM at the office or anywhere online; Free online radio will end on March 11th. After that they are "upgrading" (near CD quality, we'll see about that) and will begin charging a $2.99/month fee for online radio.

This absolutely pisses me off, I listen to SiriusXM everyday at work from 8-5. I'm thinking about raising hell on this one.

They are allowing you to renew your subscription and keep free online for the length of the renewal, but its still a load of crap..

I called them up yesterday and complained since I'm set to auto-renew in the end of this month. I told them I wanted to cancel and that their CEO is driving their company off a cliff and the woman was surprisingly awesome. She gave me 3 free months of vehicle service. So now I'm just paying the $7 for the next 3 months and then in June downgrade my plan to just "Mostly Music" since I don't listen to the talk crap anyways.

If they screw with the online component any more I'm going to just drop it all together and go with Slacker. It'd pain me to do it since I've been a subscriber since March 2005.

I'm hanging on until they combine their accounts billing services. then i'm just going to sign up on my father's account and let him take care of it. I tried last month, but sirius and xm are still seperate. she told me that it should be completed mid summer.

The only thing that is keeping me from changing are the specials like Blog Radio, your roots are showing, and some of the others. They keep me more in the mix of new and hidden artists than i ever thought.

I still listen to XM on my drive, but I'm pretty happy fucking around with Slacker and have pretty much switched to using that around the office, working on computers, etc. Won't miss the XM online and if I really need to listen at work I can use my Inno at my desk with the home cradle. So no big deal, but I'm not crazy about XM like I used to be. Much bigger on Slacker now to be honest with you.
