I used to be this person. Then I stopped. Now things rarely get cleaned.

The kitchen floor hasn't been cleaned in months and has smears of food and some unknown brown liquid all over it.

eww. See that's the problem, no one else will do it until it really really needs it. I'd rather keep it clean by doing a little bit of cleaning every now and then, rather than A LOT of cleaning at one point in time. Makes more sense.

How do you figure out if people are as clean as you before you move in with them?

Well my original roommate i lived with since freshmen year in the dorms, and i discovered he was not completely messy. Otherwise i just try to influence new roommates to keep the common areas semi-clean. I mean i'm not a complete neat-freak i just don't like a big mess.

Plus i think it's unfair to other people if you make a mess in a common area. I don't give a shit about my roommates rooms because i don't have to live in them, but the kitchen/living room should be clean and not messy. I mean why should i have to deal with someone elses mess?

I mean you can also check out the last place they lived, and that'll tell you how clean/messy they are. I have plenty of friends who i know i'd like to live with because they're clean and like to put some character into a place.

Hey, sometimes when you're in college, that's all you can afford.

^I don't think it's a question of cost. I know plenty of people without much money that have great apartments. The corona poster i would attribute more to laziness, or if you really like beer posters.

I mean there's plenty of cheap options for stuff to put on walls. Photographs or rasterbations are cheap:

Plus there's plenty of things you can find at garage sales, or thrift stores that look great and add some character to a place. Movie and beer posters are very typical because they're easy to come by and everyone has them. I don't think cost is a factor.
