fells was pretty highly touted though.... 4 star, Mr. Basketball in Mississippi
he also had a great 10-15 minutes in the 2nd rd tourney game against Texas as a freshman.... helped us come back from like 20 down, the herb benched him the rest of the game and we lost by prly 20.... anyone whom wishes herb was still here, i have a long list of games that would make one reconsider

IMHO, the game was sloppy. Yeah we had some good reads and good shots, but for the most part, they were not hussling in the first half to get rebounds or balls lost by WSSU. Rebounding wasn't great...I dunno. I'll STFU. 12/13/2008 4:47:50 PM |

Our point guards are still complete garbage. We still don't box out. We aren't very good.
4-12 in the ACC coming up with this kind of play.
With Fells, Degand, and Costner nicked out, looking like a loss Wednesday to ECU again. 12/13/2008 5:08:33 PM |

I think we will do poorly in ACC play...but I'm definitely ready for the excitement of conference games.
I think if a decent team runs a press defense, we're in trouble.
Wish the walk-ons got some points. That Kendall Smith kid is a Park Scholar, pretty cool.

Thomas looked ok. Still doesn't have the lateral movement you would expect someone with his overall athleticism to have(im no doctor, but id say because of his bum knee). I don't think his knee will ever allow him to be the player he could have been....but hes still a very explosive guy straight up 12/13/2008 7:52:13 PM |

Simon Harris really impressed me tonight. He was solid the whole game and deserved the start.
Thomas looked like he could be a decent reserve. You can tell that knee slows him down a lot when he's trying to break or crossover. However, he can still make some pretty sick dunks when he's just practicing. He warmed up at halftime and jammed two in that were nasty. He can still get good height when he jumps, he probably just won't have the speed to get a chance to do one in a game. 12/13/2008 8:11:41 PM |

outside of unc, wake, and sometimes duke, i dont see anyone in the acc blowing out opponents the way we are used to seeing in november/december.
we are playing as a team, hustling, and lowes offense takes a little time to get clicking-much like herbs.
we are leading the ACC in defense, with teams averaging 30% shooting or so (no im not looking shit up)
fells is going to continue to assert himself as its his senior year, and the point guards will become serviceable .
i am thinking forth place finish behind unc, wake, and duke.
duke is gonna flop towards the end again if you ask me. 12/13/2008 11:38:56 PM |

We really just need to win the games we're supposed to win OOC from here on out, and win the conference/tough non-conference games that we have a chance to win. We can't outplay a team for 30-35 minutes and lose because of fatigue, stupid mistakes, and not hustling at the end. The Davidson loss doesn't matter in the scheme of things, but it hurt b/c we should have won and blew it. No more of that garbage and we'll be fine. 12/13/2008 11:51:30 PM |

^I can see anywhere from 6-10 to 10-6 in the ACC. 8 of our conference games are very winnable, and stealing 1 or 2 isn't unthinkable.
What bothers me is that Lowe seems to not go after some of these early shit teams hard enough. No one is gonna be offended if we blow out a team 100-56 or so. He really should do it once or twice a season. 12/13/2008 11:53:19 PM |

davidson wont look like a bad loss if we beat marquette and florida. they have a game with duke and i think thats it for their challenges. they will go undefeated from there on out. it was an away game for us and no teams really have great records away from home anymore with the exception of a few.
i like our chances as a sleeper team. if horner gets his confidence back and costner finds his range again we will do damage.
people need to sit back, relax, and not post stupid shit/call and talk smack on LOCAL RADIO (JOHN WALL) that does nothing but hurt our recruiting efforts.
we are just starting to realize what lowe can do for us. i hope we dont shoot ourselves in the foot. AGAIN! 12/13/2008 11:57:25 PM |

gotta rememeber
packboozie rarely says anything nice about our team. We could beat a team by 50 and he'd still complain. I don't think we are good, but I think we are better than we were last season, more of a team.
We have yet to see any WTF games like we saw vs Central, Presbyterian, and Western Carolina. After 6 games, we are exactly where I thought we'd be, but I guess I shouldn't be satisfied with that. We should beat every team by 40 with our eyes closed.
Whatever. 12/14/2008 12:03:51 AM |
packboozie All American 17452 Posts user info edit post |
The only thing we can say now is that we are comfortably beating the nobodies by 20....wow.
And the hustle and effort is actually there this year. Those are +2. Other than that we still suck at rebounding and boxing out, controlling the ball, passing and turnovers, things like that. Sorry for being a realist.
Quote : | "We could beat a team by 50 and he'd still complain." |
That's part of the problem. We should be running these shit teams into the ground, not giving walk-ons playing time. Am I the only one who has a problem with this? I mean when a team that just moved to D-1 comes to town, we should be looking to score a 100-50 win.

not like we didnt suck at rebounding before.
And besides playing these nobodies, who have we played? SO shouldn't you reserve judgement?
I mean if we go 4-12, i'll be the first one to tell you are right.
But you are telling us not to deduce anything from beating nobodies, but you are doing just that 12/14/2008 12:09:09 AM |

we're definitely getting better. looking at the box score and the final score, it makes sense. nobody played too long. a lot of people played a lot of minutes. the game was already won in the first half due to playing lights out without fells/degand, and looks like even some walk-ons got some decent time in. it may have been a little sloppy, but 2 starters missed the entire game, one missed the second half, one didn't start the game. 12/14/2008 12:13:46 AM |

It's not like I don't want the team to succeed like you make it seem, but I just don't see us doing much better than 6-10 in the ACC.
And for those saying wait till Lorenzo and co come in, we lose Fells, Costner, and McCauley after this year. Those are easily our top 3 players. Will next year truly be better talent wise? 12/14/2008 12:14:04 AM |

we will if lorenzo brown plays well. our biggest problem, far and away, is not having a guard who can break people down off the dribble.

We lose Fells, but gain someone who can do everything Fells can do, but might be able to do it consistently. (Lo Brown)
We lose McCauley, but gain someone who can bang inside, and will fight hard for rebounds (Howell)
If we lose Costner it will be because he's ready for the next level, and we'd gain someone like Wall/Favors. That'd mean a talent upgrade. The talent we'd lose is replaceable, the talent we have outside of the two maybe 3 we'd lose would get more experience. We're only going to get better. 12/14/2008 12:27:00 AM |
