"Stone,
Please don't buy her a fake rolex....... (The one in the photo you posted isn't authentic :-P)"

needed a picture for an example. btw, why is that pic a fake? i only see one possibility but i an not sure about when they began doing something. the pink mop should only come with the scribing around the inside of the outer edge of the crystal. also i have never owned a diamond bezel so i am not sure if they were round or princess. teach me something since you apparently know something i dont.

hers is an 03 "F" serial number with an oyster band. i had the face changed from the white mother or pearl face with no diamonds to the pink mop with diamonds. it also was originally a jubilee band and i changed that also. no worries about the fake. i kept the original face and band so if i sell it i can change it back to the original format.

To be 'authentic' it has to be in a form that rolex would sell it....

The watch in the photo isn't 'authentic' because diamond bezels aren't available on steel (you can tell by the bracelet) watches (only solid rose/white/yellow gold or platinum)....
T-Swiss Made-T was for dials back when Tridium was used on the dial, and that one isn't.... The bezel wasn't made by Rolex (I can tell by how the diamonds are set) nor did Rolex make the dial.

I am in no way shape or form attempting to be a bitch.... But Rolex watches aren't something that you just switch around with aftermarket parts and customize. The serial is linked only to the original parts, not any portion that is changed (and Rolex won't touch it with aftermarket parts on it).
It's the equivalent to buying a Mercedes, then asking Toyota, Mazda & Saturn to create you a sunroof, spoiler and Grill to go on it.

[Edited on December 14, 2008 at 9:26 PM. Reason : I have no idea what BHS's issue is - - No one needs to 'explain' themselves to me....]

originality is not my big concern. finding one like i wanted that was not 5K was the biggest issue. i kept the original dial and band so if i do sell it i would be able to sell it in its original state.

why are rolex's not something you switch around? i wear my daytona with a leather band more than the oyster band. i never thought that to be a no no.

i personally would never pay for a new one that is mop with diamonds. i would never send it back to rolex to be serviced as i have a local rolex dealer who services on site. i would also say your analogy is not a good example. nor would i use the term "fake" like you originally did. it is not "authentic" in the fact of being how the factory shipped it, i agree, but that does not make it "fake".

i did not think about stainless not coming with a diamond bezel. that is true, white gold or platinum would be the only way.

Forgive me if the word 'fake' comes across as too strong - to Rolex (which is who I have to work with daily) anything that is not an original Rolex part, is unauthentic, or anyway you want to politely dress the word up....

I can't imagine putting a strap on a Daytona - but again... what you visually find pleasing, verses what Rolex produces are two different things. Why would you want to modify one of the most sought after watches in the USA?
Rolex produces watches within certain (very strict) criteria with very little variation, so they can tell what you're wearing from 10 feet away, and don't have to hold it in your hands to tell what it is. It's just the way they, as a company, do business.

If that is of no concern to you, then it really doesn't matter what you and your watchmaker decide to do with it from there.

PM me - and I'll happily answer anything you'd like to know.....

..........But for now - Back to topic

this is the first year in over a decade that I don't have a SO at Christmas. So instead of spending the $500-$1000 that I usually spend on my SO for Christmas, I am buying myself a PS3 and Rock Band with all the instruments.

She doesn't hate video games. She loves rock band and wants a Wii. But that still doesn't trump the fact that she really wants all the other things I'm getting her.

^ Aww! That's sweet! I've never thought about doing something like that, but then again, I've never had the funds to even fathom doing something like that.

And I don't have to worry about spending money on the Mr. He's gonna be in AL on Christmas day and then back home (in another state) for his bday this month. *sigh*

^ just get him a 40 of Old English and a carton of Newports. He'll be pumped.

But for real. Yeah, the car payment is the only bill my mom has left after my dad died. She kept his car and sold hers to pay off some other bills. It has about $3k left on it for payoff. I inherited about $3200, so that is what I am using it for. I gotta take care of Moms. I am on a Karma kick lately, and so far it has been paying off.
