a good red you'll want opened at around 55-60 degrees. It allows the wine to open up better as it comes to room temp. Most decent restaurants in the area will serve their reds slightly chilled.

I just think Red tastes nasty cold - - But I wouldn't trade for the difference of cold/room temp white.....

The better the alcohol the more important temperature is. For example if you have a really good scotch you want to serve it at room temperature and clean your pallet before trying it. People who put whiskey in the freezer are hilarious. Same with wine, cold red wine is just nasty. With beer it depends on the beer. Some beers taste horrible chilled, and are supposed to be served close to room temperature. Shit beer is usually better ice cold because it gets rid of most of the flavor.
