Did Fox call a perfect game? Of course not. But I don't know how anybody can watch us give up 34 points with a ton of missed tackles and not blame the defense before you point the finger at the coaches 12/22/2008 9:14:36 PM |

^^ I would blame their offensive production more on Fox's decision to play that bitch of a zone. They were killing us with the run, but we rarely brought any of the db's up in run support. That's fine if the zone prevents them from getting more than 5 yards when we are able to force a 3rd and long, but it didn't happen. The blame for that is more on the players, but when the other team converts countless 3rd and longs and you continue to run the same defense that keeps getting burned, then it's on the coaches.
Couple that with Fox's conservative offensive playing calling in the second half that kept the Giants in the game in the first place, and how can you not blame the coaches? This isn't to say the outcome was at all surprising. Fox never goes for the jugular which is why the Panthers' wins are almost always close. The games against the Buccaneers and the Broncos being rare exceptions. 12/22/2008 10:52:23 PM |

I know Fox never goes for the kill when he has a nice 10 or 11 point lead, and thats frustrating, but I still say when our defense gives up 300 rushing yards, misses dozens of tackles, and gives up 34 points, its on the defense...Fox's playcalling was just fine offensively when we scored 4 touchdowns on one of the league's top defenses...if Kasay had aimed a few yards to the right and made the field goal, we'd be 12-3...this was a very close game...theres no sense in blaming anyone but the defense, but honestly what makes the most sense is giving the defending Super Bowl champions their due as being a great team...we will play them again, and Kemo will be clogging up the middle 12/22/2008 10:55:22 PM |

Yeah, about the playcalling, it seems like Fox's strategy this season is to get a two-score first half lead and then spend the second half trying to protect it. Doesn't work that well against good teams... 12/23/2008 11:57:21 AM |

Wow, John Kasay made a game winning field goal? Imagine that, when there isnt a 25mph crosswind, he makes his clutch field goals. 12/29/2008 1:53:51 PM |
