i had a dream around a month ago that i woke up and was in the dorm rooms. it was freshman year and my roommate from that year walked in and started talking to me. it was crazy because i was laying in bed and him shutting the door woke me up. one of my mid afternoon naps i suppose. at first i was shocked but then really excited about all the possibilities that lay before me, which is exactly when the alarm went off.

it'd be great to have it all again.

1. I'd study a little more and party a little less, but thats mostly because i studied none and partied a lot. my job would likely be no different, but i think i would find it more fulfilling.

2. i'd also not smoke pot 5 or 6 times a day and restrict it to only the weekends and not dress like a degenerate stoner

3. talk to the fucking girls i wanted to talk to.

^i missed that one some how. thats definitely signed as well. there are girls that i realized in hindsight wanted me to lay the pipe or girls that i knew about then but chose not to because i was either going to go get high and play playstation or i just wasn't feeling them.

this is something i have promised to communicate to my son when he is ready.

I would've boned a lot more, completely without regard for anything other than (A) is she hot, (B) is she not married, and (C) am I reasonably likely to be able to do her without catching an STD?


I also would've boozed less during my first couple years of college, and maybe a little more during the last few.


Finally, I would've utilized my professors' office hours more for my engineering classes.

Hmmmm I just realized my girlfriends from home and I came to visit one weekend (when I had left NCSU and went to culinary school). We stayed at the TKE house because one friend was dating a guy there (and now they're married and all that jazz). Anyways...One guy in the house was called Spider and NOW IT ALL MAKES SENSE.

If i end up where I am now I would have switched my major to EE so that i would have known more about wtf i am doing at my job than when i first started. although going into EE would probably have cancelled all of the above items.

I would have picked a hall-style dorm rather than a suite-style, my suite sucked and my roommates were pretty lame. My freshman year I think I spent more time down in "T-Town" than I did in my own dorm, it seemed like the hall-style dorms were generally much more social.

yeah suite style was basically like

"allright, you're going to get real familiar with these 9 fucks, but your interactions with other fucks will be few and far between"

The fucks in my suite were cool, but our social circle was relatively small because you had to have a key to get in each suite and couldn't just free flow around to random rooms like you could in a hall

so basically I kinda missed not being able to associate with 30-40 other fucks as I pleased

i think the suite life is either hit or miss. my freshman year suite was awesome and so was my sophomore year suite. i still keep in contact with a lot of those guys and have a long list of memories which i'll never forget that occurred in the suite alone. i'd keep the same suites and same roommates for sure.


another thing i would do would be use my free time for more independent learning and indulging in new interests. theres a lot of free time you have in college that you don't realize you will never have again. i had plenty of time to learn all sorts of things that were outside of my curriculum, but smoking pot 6 times a day with the same 10 people seemed like the best plan at the time.

If I knew then what I know now...

1. I woulda boned down on a LOT more wimmens, without regard to anything but (A) does she weigh somewhat less than I do? and (B) dat bitch gon' give me somethin' I can't wash off?

2. I would not have cared what so many women thought or what their feelings were. I'd have been much more of a dog.

3. I would have definitely studied a lot more and kept my shit together better. Not having your shit together and being drunk all the time (to the point of waking up 45 minutes into my MA241 exam with a glaring hangover, rushing to class only to sit there for 20 minutes wondering what the fuck I was doing, and then leaving) is NOT conducive to getting your money's worth in school. Now being moderately fucked up on the weekends is cool and great, but getting shitfaced to the point of barfing on some hot, unapproachable chick's shoes in front of god and everybody and totally humiliating yourself is undeniably NOT.

4. I would have picked a better broad with some modicum of sense in her head to marry. Or I would have not gotten married the first time at all.

Actually, the beginning of the friction there was because I went home with this girl on the first night of classes, and then slept pretty solidly through the 2nd day of class.

However, he was probably the most helpful professor I ever found at his office hours. We eventually got on good terms.

i went to meredith, so it's a little bit different.
i would've broken up with my boyfriend and had some fun going out with my suitemates...and been more wild DURING college instead of After college.

i still loved living in the dorms during the weekday (regardless of how wild i was)...although the weekends were so quiet that you really didn't want to be there unless you absolutely HAD to be there. probably one of the reasons i had a boyfriend for 4 yrs.

I have calmed down significantly since I graduated college, and ESPECIALLY since my little girl was born. The partying until dawn (I was never totally out of control, but I had an, umm, active social life) and womanizing days (I was never really THAT bad, although I guess more promiscuous than average) days are in the past, and that's fine...preferable, even.

...but I do wish I'd spent my college days in even more rockstar-like form, because there will never be another time and place in life to do so.

i'm going to break the mold here and say i wish i had given more attention to classes that i thought were bullshit at the time. and it's not even like i was out having a great time, i was just sitting around mostly, but didn't give a fuck about my gpa in the long run and now i'm trying to go to grad school.
