I once used this as my Book It book. In the 7th grade our teacher made us choose the number of books for our Book It goal. I tried to commit to reading 0 books as my goal, but the teacher said it had to be at least one so that's what I chose.

For those who aren't familiar with it, it caused an uproar in the 80's for being full of disgusting humor. My mom was pissed, but I was like "It's not like we have any other books that I can read." My poor moms.

Yeah I'm surprised a book like that would make it on the list.

I remember our school had a list of books you could choose from or you could get a book approved by the teacher if you didn't want to read any of the crap on the list.

Did any of you guys have to do that crap in middle school where you read a book and then you would have to take a multiple choice quiz about the book. Certain books were worth certain points, so something like Michael Crichton would be worth more than Dr. Seuss

Middle School brought the introduction of Accelerated Reader, and so began the end of my days of reading books. None of the books they had tests for were of interest to me. I always liked science-fiction books. So I'd read whatever I wanted to, to get the credit. Then we could write our own tests for them. I pretty much quit reading then.
