Last night was so disappointing. I passed out right after I walked the 2 blocks back from the stadium when the game ended. Woke up at 2PM and was still upset. I still am. Long time until next season...

I can not remember; why do we not get a 1st round pick this year?

We need defensive tackle help more than a quarterback

jake isn't the best in the world, but there's options out there. That said, if we can get some DTs through FA, then maybe we could take a QB....

i certainly don't want another undrafted fuck as our long term plan (I'm looking at you, Matt)

Did you take this off your notes from this mornings interview with the panthers guy on the radio??

I'd say we need some new blood in the secondary more than the D-Line. Half the time they look like they are sitting around with their thumbs up their ass as the opponents QB plays catch with his WRs. After which Gamble, other CB's, and the safeties decide to play defense to make a tackle.

more d line help would make the secondary look good. Remember what the pressure up front made Ricky Manning Jr. look like in 2003. The Panthers havent seen that kind of production from the line in a long time.

imo our awful secondary play is a product of coaching...you rarely ever see the CB's at the line pressing good receivers.

^he'll definitely be back....he doesn't have a huge stat line, but he is instrumental in our run D.

We have a hard schedule next year, but look at it this way: so does the rest of the NFC South.

I think we still win the south next year, buy probably not the bye.

I do want to see a new QB, but with a late 2nd round we wouldn't get one that could start immediately.

If we can sneak into the playoffs next year and not have homefield advantage, it might be great for us...we always seem to play better as the underdogs

Exactly. I also predict that Matt Ryan and Atlanta will do just "OK" next year and the media obsession with him will end (hopefully).

we play Minnesota and Arizona

the Falcons play Chicago and San Fran

Tampa plays Seattle and Green Bay

New Orleans plays Detroit and St. Louis

NO has the easiest two games obviously, but Tampa has a potential tough 2 matchups even after finishing 3rd

"GAVE UP ON IT: Fullback Brad Hoover admitted he was distressed by the way the Panthers got away from running the ball. They managed just 15 carries, after averaging 31.5 per game in the regular season.
"You know, the first drive we marched right down the field, it almost seemed like it was too easy at times," he said. "We were really moving it on them really well. Come out and really I think what was the turning point in maybe giving their defense a little confidence was when we tried third and two (on their second possession) and didn't make it. They got the ball back and scored, come back our next possession strip-fumble, they scored again, and then. ...
"I don't know, our plan was to try to run the ball on them. That's what we've hung our hat on all year, being successful in the running game, and I still think we could have done it. Not to question things, but when you start putting yourself in a hole, and we did pretty fast put ourselves in a big hole, it's hard to just run the ball when you've put yourself in pass situations.""

I've been hoping Peppers would be traded for a year or so now. He still has value, he'll ask for too much money, and we have other pressing needs.

Do we? Our biggest problem on defense this year was the lack of a consistent pass rush. You can blame our secondary all you want, but even the best DBs in the league will get burned if you give a QB too much time. I also believe the problem was more scheme than personnel. I mean WHAT THE FUCK were we doing with a linebacker and a rookie safety covering Larry Fitzgerald on his second TD reception? Someone should get fired for that play alone. In any case, I don't see how getting rid of Julius Peppers helps our pass rush unless we sign one of the big UFAs like Haynesworth (not happening). We don't have a first round draft pick this year, so gambling on a late round DL or DE to give us a pass rush next year wouldn't be very smart.

Peppers had what, 14.5 sacks this year? Can anyone tell me how many he had after the bye week in week 9? Cause I doubt it was many...he consistently gets manhandled...he's talented as shit, but he seemingly only tries about 5 games a year...he's not worth the money he wants

ok i just checked his stats, and his sacks were actually spread out well over the year

biggest troubling stat i saw?

only 3 games out of 17 where he had more than 4 tackles

"The Todd Parker's Cocaine Heist Award for "Worst Game Plan"
To the stupid Panthers for putting their season in Jake Delhomme's hands over just pounding Arizona with the best 1-2 running punch in football. If that pick was a purchase at Best Buy, I would have driven over there in the second quarter, waited in the "RETURNS" line for 25 minutes behind people returning $10 headphones or cheats "returning" digital cameras that clearly broke because they were dropped, then given my pick back and told the lady with the 73 IQ and the fish eye behind the counter, "I'm returning this; this wasn't what I ordered" while she struggled for a response. And while we're here, I'm rehashing a theme from Monday's podcast, but so be it: If you're playing the Cards without Anquan Boldin, and you know Larry Fitzgerald and Kurt Warner are the only two guys on the field who can kill you ... how can you possibly let Fitzgerald and Warner kill you??? Why not triple-team Fitzgerald? Or would that have made too much sense?"

I wonder how many came with the game well in hand?....It seems like peppers is the master of racking up blowout sacks like a-rod is the man when it comes to blasting the homerun with a 7 run lead.

stat lines look good, but game impact is minimal.

Peppers watch 09

lets get some predictions on what will happen

on a vague level, i think he will be franchised and traded, which I think would be the general sentiment (least stupid thing to do)

just letting him walk would be irresponsible, and Hurney should go with him

guy on Charlotte.com brought up a good point indicating that julius likes Houston, so the Texans would love to put Mario on one side and Peppers on the other...they have 1st round pick (15 i think) + some other picks that we could pick up

If we can get a first round pick out of him, then yeah, franchise and trade. Trouble will be finding a team willing to give up that much for him especially with the way he publicly announced he wants out.

A line with both Mario and Peppers seems unrealistic. But I guess it's not unprecedented, the Giants had 2 pro-bowl level defensive ends last year.

well, it would make some sense for houston to want him. they've been focusing on the dline now during the first round for a while, and they still aren't pleased. The idea of Mario and Peppers might be too much for them to pass up, even if it means they might overpay to get him.

if we could get a first and then another between 3-5, i say we take it and run.

shit, if they have a top 15 pick, i say we fucking take that and be thankful we have cap space for gross.

if we could somehow trade Pep to Oakland for OSAMAOIGNEWOIBANIO and a draft pick, that would be the shit

I'd be fine with Gamble as our 2nd CB with OGAIONWEBIONWA being the shutdown corner

and definitely tell lucas to gtfo
