i would say that a 2 hour delay in the morn is pretty much guaranteed. Having the whole day off though......i doubt

It's no supposed to get about freezing today last I saw, so there will definitely be ice tomorrow morning when the stuff on the road refreezes tonight. 2 hour delay tomorrow at least.

So, for instance.. if you have a 9:30-10:20 class and there's a 2 hr delay - do you just go for the 20 mins? Being that I have an hour and a half drive, I don't want to risk it. I slide on rain, don't wanna test it on snow/ice.

Considering I've taken all of my classes via Distance Ed until this semester, I didn't have a clue as to whether or not the instructor would cancel class, or if it would be required to come to that class being as it's only a few minutes. The homepage stated yesterday even under the 2 hour delay...

I'd hate to leave at 8:00am to get to class and wreck my car, for 20 mins of class.

You're still missing the point.

If your class starts before 10, it's cancelled. Doesn't matter if it starts at 9:35 and runs til 2pm (never mind that such a class wouldn't exist for students). It's cancelled. End of story. Cancelled. Cancelledcancelledcancelled.

Distance ed is no excuse for being so damn obtuse.

And if you slide in rain, either you drive like a retard, or have bald tires. In either case, stay off the damn road, please.

How is that so? When you were in high school and classes were delayed until 10am, did you miss your first class even if there was only 10 mins left in the class? Of course not. That's why I asked. I've never had to deal with a cancelled class since I've been a State. I don't see how there's anything wrong in asking a simple question, instead of assuming and missing a class that I'm required to go to.

You obviously have never driven a car with low-profile tires. I'm smart enough to handle my car, but my tires aren't the best for snow/ice.

Because college is just like high school, and runs on the same policies and procedures

I don't see how that's a valid excuse for having tires that are unsafe to drive with in the rain.
As a citizen of NC, you are charged with maintaining your vehicle so that it is safe to drive. Given that we don't live in a desert, that includes being safe to drive in the rain. Sliding in the rain != safe.

I'm not talking about sliding off the road. You can just feel a difference in the way the car rides if you hit a wet spot. The tires are perfectly safe, just a difference in the way you have to handle them. I'm no expert at driving, nor have I driven in snow/ice before. I still don't understand your need to argue though.

I still don't understand how one could possibly think "well, in high school..." when trying to figure out something for college, so call it even

I didn't find a policy on adverse weather relating to class start times other than seeing the delay yesterday, so I only assumed and figured I would ask, shame on me for not wanting to put myself at risk.
