I am so grateful I am married to Ken. He is very chivalrous. It is def a turn on for me. I def don't go around demanding it from other guys but I am glad my man thinks of me that way. I don't mind my door being opened for me, him offering me his jacket when I am freezing cold, or him bringing the groceries in. I also don't mind giving him a blow job as much as possible, scratching his scalp/back and biting his back like a rabid raccoon. So I guess to each his own.

I'll tell you one thing...I appreciate it when a man opens a door for me.

I also do get a little annoyed when there are tall people sitting down in the bus while I'm forced to stand where I can't reach a strap or a bar that goes to the floor and I'm stuck trying to grab onto the rail uptop that I can barely reach. And when I am holding on to it I'm on my tip toes so I can't keep my balance anyway.
That's just called being polite when you see someone struggling like that when you know that you wouldn't if you were in the same place.

"In response to the article “Give up your bus seats, gentlemen” I have to say, are you kidding? I honestly can’t even believe the audacity of the article.

Somebody has to stand on the bus, and it can’t always be men. The first issue is that the whole idea of giving up a seat for a “lady” is a courtesy, not an obligation.

Sometimes I stand up for a lady, sometimes I don’t. It’s my right to do as I wish.

Then the article goes on to say that you can’t hold books, hold the rail, listen to an iPod and text on your phone at the same time. If its a problem, stop texting and just stand there. You don’t need constant communication or entertainment for the 20-minute bus ride.

Also, who holds books? Buy a book bag. If you can afford an iPod, surely you can afford a book bag. Like the article said, you want independence, you got it. Don’t expect guys to treat you like a queen because guess what, you're not!

Yes, chivalry is almost dead and it’s because of women like you. However, I won’t go so far as to group all women as you did most men as lazy and discourteous. You, however, appear to be the lazy one and I would never stand up for you on the bus. You really expect a random guy on the bus to stand up, hold your books and carry them? Seriously, grow up, drop out or go home.

I had a class with this guy, and he's spot-on.

Is my annoyance with people not giving up a seat to a short person irrational?

^^that guy is spot-on

don't get me wrong, i'll hold a door for a lady, etc. but for you to feel OBLIGATED for all men to kiss the ground you step on, is bullshit.

if anything, i will sit in my seat on the bus while you stand just so i can look at your ass.

i really don't see why people don't use bookbags. get a bigger purse if you think bookbags aren't "fashionable" or whatever. even all the sorority girls (i'll include myself here) are usually given a bag with their greek letters on it for free when they join!

I would have been tempted to if it didn't hurt my tendonitis-filled shoulders to hold on to the top rails

I never wrote an article complaining about it or expected anyone to give up a seat because I was in a LOT of pain though

I open doors for my wife all the time. She also opens doors for me all the time.

Radical feminism (not all feminism) worked hard to kill chivalry, but they should have worked equally hard to make sure it was replaced by simple common courtesy.

I totally agree with you

but when you started this thread, you addressed it to "women" as if we were all this retarded

as a side note, I don't mind that feminism killed chivalry

sure it's nice when someone holds open a door, but that should be a nice gesture from both men and women to whomever's behind them

Ooh, I want to find that bitch and just beat the crap out of her after reading that bullshit. And then beat the crap out of her editor for letting it get published. I know the Technician goes for the most controversial shams of articles that they can find to put in the Viewpoint just to get a rise out of the student body, but god DAMN. I HOPE she's trying to get a job as a real journalist so people will find this article later and just laugh at her.

Ooh, found her facebook...Yeah, I could totally take her.

Another thing is she described women as "suffering" because they had to stand up on the bus. I'm sorry, but unless you are elderly, handicapped, pregnant, injured or have some physical condition where it hurts to stand or hold the rail, you should stand up if all the seats are taken and will not suffer.
I always try to hold the door open for others, regardless of their (or my own) gender, if they are directly behind me. Chivalry can die for all I care, as long as courtesy and politeness stays. Just because you have titties does not entitle you to special treatment.

ditto. i just try to be polite to whomever. i also don't think "chivalry is dead." there are plenty of polite men out there. i guess if by "chivalry" people are referring to someone who kisses the ground they walk on and bends over backwards for them, maybe it is dead. but that seems dumb anyway. unless you are a superbitch, i think you can find someone to hold the damn door open for you. if people are constantly rude to you, maybe you should first question yourself instead of EVERYONE around you. you might find some answers!!!

I will always offer my seat on the bus to a female
I open car doors and pull out chairs
I won't even walk in front of a female because it is disrespectful. Plus it has obvious advantages.

contrary to popular belief, being a gentleman will get you laid A LOT MORE OFTEN than being an asshole. At least if you are looking to fuck a higher class broad than the typical sorrostitute.

it's possible to still have a backbone AND be a gentleman. opening doors and pulling out chairs doesn't make you a pussy. now, if you do it because she tells you to, then you are a pussy

I rarely take the bus, but did the other day and saw tons of fat-ass guys who couldn't stand up for girls or older people. I got up for one girl and she looked totally surprised.

Sad.

ditto! I dated a guy who knew chivalry to get into the panties, once that was done he became completely selfish. Chivalry is not dead and though I may help bring in the groceries even though you said you would do it all it's still nice to hear it.

I too like to bite (playfully), rub his scalp ALLLLLLLLL the time, and give bjs.

Don't give your seat up for me because I am a woman.
Give your seat up to me because I am too short to reach the grab bars and keep my feet on the ground.

When my husband and I rode the Wolfline together back in college, I'd have to hold on to his waist or bookbag for dear life.
