I've got a moderate southern drawl.

When people meet me for the first time, they often do a double take or later tell me that they thought I was faking it at first.

Not many Indian folks with a southern accent I guess.

i get this a lot since moving to california after college, even though i was born and raised in NC

i always assume it's because my parents are from miami and thus aren't really southern themselves, though they seemed to have picked up more of an accent from living in north carolina for almost 30 yrs than i ever did

i kinda wish i had a little bit of one though

Yes, I have a southern accent....at work I talk to people from all over the United States and some of them ask me if I am from the South......doesnt happen too often though. I tell you the WI, Min area accent is pretty unique.

Most Indian folks have that thick barily can understand indian accent....that is why they were shocked Bobby....

lol

when i first start drinking it gets really really bad.. kind of like livinproof

but eventually i reach a point where i have to concentrate so hard to make sure what i'm saying isn't a mumbled blabble of nothing that the accent goes away

I use to have a decent southern accent. I grew up in a very rural area in Southeastern NC. But I went to State and came home maybe once a year...and pretty much lost most of it. Since then I've lived in Wrightsville Beach and Charleston...and although both southern areas...I just don't hang around people from the South that much...and have thus lost most of my accent.

It still comes out sometimes when I go home and I'm hanging around my really country friends. But I took a girl home for a wedding in December and she was like..."you grew up around these people??"

I'd like to hear it to see just how authentic it does sound. I met this girl at a party one time who didn't know that I was from England. She was faking an accent and to everyone there it sounded real enough cause they didn't really know better but to me it was the most awfully fake accent I had ever heard. I totally called her out on it after she claimed that she was actually an actress trying to get into character or something stupid like that. Good times.

FYI if you want to convince someone that your accent is real, don't ever refer to yourself as being British or refer to the country as Great Britain or the United Kingdom. We are from England and we refer to ourselves as English.

I was born and raised in Roxboro, NC and I do not have an accent. Most people are very surprised to hear that. Sometimes when I've been drinking, or really excited, it slips out.

Sober, no- no accent (very neutral)

the more I drink though, the more twang I develop in my speech...which over time turns to slurring

I grew up in Wilmington, so I don't think my accent is that strong, but I have a few quirks, like saying "water" as "worter."

i can't hear any accent on myself but people say i mostly sound northern (brooklyn/NYC/NJ accent) but when i am drunk i can either sound super northern (i do a mean staten island accent) or incredibly southern. sometimes its like every other word goes from northern to southern. confuses the hell out of people.

My dad was born in Johnston County and my mom from Wilson County

i grew up in Johnston County and my accent was never as thick as some of the others especially the people from Meadow

people from Raleigh tell me I do not have an accent but I work in Cary with a bunch of Yankees and they don't shut up about it - one guy wants to move his kid to a private school so he won't get a southern drawl

pisses me off dude

I have a blatent New York accent......not to the degree of the Sopranos or anything but it's still pretty bad.

As soon as I moved to NC people kept asking me to say things like "coffee", "august", and "dog" over and over again because those words really bring out the accent and they think it's hilarious.

I used to think I liked a thick southern accent but I've found this to be true as well

I tend to take on the accents of my surroundings to an extent, if I'm around real southern people I can slip into my drawl, but most of the time I'm pretty neutral

I try to do that in the UK too but I probably piss people off who can see right through it and think I'm mocking them or something, I really wish I could learn a good Irish accent though

OMG. Just listen to me on any of my vids on Facebook. I have an extremely thick southern accent. As long as I stick in the Raleigh area, I do a pretty good job of toning it down. But when I go home for any length of time. . .

Moving around a lot, I've lost most of my Maine accent, but I'm making an effort to bring it back.

Normally I do not really have one. If I'm around some good ol' boys, or sometimes if I've had a hell of a lot to drink, I will go into a southern accent without noticing, but normally it's something I do briefly and intentionally for some effect.
