I've got a moderate southern drawl. When people meet me for the first time, they often do a double take or later tell me that they thought I was faking it at first. Not many Indian folks with a southern accent I guess.

lol, i think the second thing out of jessiejepp's mouth when she met me was"wow, i really didn't expect you to have that thick of an accent"..southern, that is
1/23/2009 3:07:57 PM
I'm trying to think of some way to incorporate the first thing out of her mouth and your junk, but i'm not clever enough to fabricate the best context

People tell me I sound like I'm from the Midwest.

Yes, I have a southern accent....at work I talk to people from all over the United States and some of them ask me if I am from the South......doesnt happen too often though. I tell you the WI, Min area accent is pretty unique. Most Indian folks have that thick barily can understand indian accent....that is why they were shocked Bobby....[Edited on January 23, 2009 at 3:13 PM. I use to have a decent southern accent. I grew up in a very rural area in Southeastern NC. But I went to State and came home maybe once a year...and pretty much lost most of it. Since then I've lived in Wrightsville Beach and Charleston...and although both southern areas...I just don't hang around people from the South that much...and have thus lost most of my accent. It still comes out sometimes when I go home and I'm hanging around my really country friends. But I took a girl home for a wedding in December and she was like..."you grew up around these people??"
1/23/2009 3:16:47 PM
yeah that's a good pointi know many people who have a "this is my home accent" and a "this is my not home accent"
1/23/2009 3:17:33 PM
yeah..pretty sure mine had basically went away when i lived in raleigh and then the beach.. but back in f'in Asheboro now so I'm sure it's at it's worst

My accent depends on who I'm talking to

I was born and raised in Roxboro, NC and I do not have an accent. Most people are very surprised to hear that. Sometimes when I've been drinking, or really excited, it slips out.

Sober, no- no accent (very neutral)the more I drink though, the more twang I develop in my speech...which over time turns to slurring
1/23/2009 4:50:13 PM
I grew up in Wilmington, so I don't think my accent is that strong, but I have a few quirks, like saying "water" as "worter."
1/23/2009 5:13:20 PM
I speak 'merican goddammit!
1/23/2009 5:15:17 PM

1/23/2009 5:45:08 PM
i do out here, but not when im back east
1/23/2009 5:46:12 PM
i can't hear any accent on myself but people say i mostly sound northern (brooklyn/NYC/NJ accent) but when i am drunk i can either sound super northern (i do a mean staten island accent) or incredibly southern. sometimes its like every other word goes from northern to southern. confuses the hell out of people.

My dad was born in Johnston County and my mom from Wilson Countyi grew up in Johnston County and my accent was never as thick as some of the others especially the people from Meadowpeople from Raleigh tell me I do not have an accent but I work in Cary with a bunch of Yankees and they don't shut up about it - one guy wants to move his kid to a private school so he won't get a southern drawlpisses me off dude

I have a blatent New York accent......not to the degree of the Sopranos or anything but it's still pretty bad. As soon as I moved to NC people kept asking me to say things like "coffee", "august", and "dog" over and over again because those words really bring out the accent and they think it's hilarious.
1/23/2009 5:59:33 PM
I, too, would ask you to say certain words. I love that accent.
1/23/2009 6:02:34 PM

OMG. Just listen to me on any of my vids on Facebook. I have an extremely thick southern accent. As long as I stick in the Raleigh area, I do a pretty good job of toning it down. But when I go home for any length of time. . .
1/24/2009 2:12:18 PM
Moving around a lot, I've lost most of my Maine accent, but I'm making an effort to bring it back.
1/24/2009 2:12:24 PM
Normally I do not really have one. If I'm around some good ol' boys, or sometimes if I've had a hell of a lot to drink, I will go into a southern accent without noticing, but normally it's something I do briefly and intentionally for some effect.
1/24/2009 2:34:58 PM

1/24/2009 2:37:46 PM
