Great woman and great coach.

NCSU was very blessed to have this woman around for so long.

The fact that she has been our only women's coach is amazing.

No one lived Jimmy V's words better than Kay Yow. She never gave up.

a very sad day indeed. She was a great representative of our university, and a great person..

she never gave up on her passion and coached until the very end. she loved the game, and the university. She will be missed

my thoughts and prayers go out to her family in this tough time. At least she doesn't have to suffer anymore

I heard of her passing this morning on the radio as I was going to work.

Coach Yow was an inspiration, not only as a coach but as a fearless warrior in the battle against breast cancer. Her tireless efforts encouraged many others facing the same foe, and was a role model for future athletes.

Condolences to her family, friends, and the NCSU family she so positively represented.

Cancer can take away all my physical abilities. It cannot touch my mind, it cannot touch my heart and it cannot touch my soul. And those three things are going to carry on forever.

I regret that I never took time to learn how truly great she was during my time at NCSU.

As a person who also battled cancer, I respect her attitude. She displayed the same kind of attitude that I did about cancer.....mainly that you wont let it change the way you live your life. She went out and did her thing while fighting cancer, she didnt let it get her down and she didnt let it stop her from living her life fully up until the end. this was the attitude I had and still have, and I respect her tenacity. She will be missed but never forgotten from our NCSU family.

Quote :
"A public viewing will be held Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Colonial Baptist Church in Cary. A funeral will follow at 3 p.m.

Burial will take place Saturday, Jan. 31, at 10 a.m. at Gibsonville Cemetery in Gibsonville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund and mailed to:

The V Foundation for Cancer Research
106 Towerview Court
Cary, NC 27513

or

Cary Alliance Church
4108 Ten Ten Road
Apex, NC 27539"

Expect thousands of people to pass through that church. I'll definitely be going to pay my respects.

I have never been more proud to be a State alum.
She represented everything that is good about athletics and humanity.
Coach Yow will be missed. I'm glad we renamed the court before we lost her...

My thoughts and prayers go out to her family.
As my facebook status says: "The pack will howl for coach tonight".
