2. that magazine TOTALLY doesn't seem like an uber trashy/fake news mag
3. they source sounds incredibly jealous - like his girl wanted Michael, or the source is a girl who was hitting on him and got rejected

Quote :
"i bet it really pisses anti-drug people off when they find out a DIRTY DRUG USER is better than them in literally every way imaginable"
LOL.... anti-drug people are the among the biggest losers in the history of humanity. I hope they choke on this.

Quote :
"who cares?"
Quote :
"what fully grown adult on this planet actually gives a shit about another adult doing drugs in his spare time"
Quote :
"Who cares?"
Quote :
"who the fuck cares?

beer used to be illegal"
Quote :
"who cares?"
Quote :
"Who cares?"
WE GET IT!!!!!
YOU ALL ARE WAY TOO COOL TO CARE!!!
Shut the fuck up, already.

As has been mentioned, many people do care:
Quote :
"Cops, politicians, the media, ultra conservatives, doctors..."
Quote :
"advertisers
the USOC"
Quote :
"a bunch of dumb fucking babies who want to control other peoples' behavior"
And those are just the bad ones. There are many people out there who, because they use weed, have had others in positions of power exercise anti-drug prejudice against them, resulting in them being denied opportunities, disenfranchised, etc. Any and all examples of hard-working and successful potheads, help to erode that prejudice. Perhaps you're already aware of the fact that potheads aren't necessarily lazy or unsuccessful, but very many people still hold this illogical, harmful, and prejudicial stereotype. If all that people hear about weed is that some was found on whatever violent or larcenous criminal that happens to be on the nightly news, then their irrational and bigoted prejudice strengthens. No matter how "cool" some of you must be to assume the position of "who cares?" in regards to this story, the fact remains that this story, (if true, of course,) is important and people on both sides of the debate do care.
Quote :
"if he is a pot head he is a way more successful pot head that I am as a non-pothead."
Which is exactly the line of thinking that will lead many ignorant anti-weed people to question why they've viewed weed as being deleterious to one's success.

Side note,
Nearly every swimmer I've known, and a good number of runners I've know, could take HUGE bong-hits. (lungs)

Because he cleaned the floor with the rest of the world during the Olympics. He was a strong symbol for American dominance in his particular arena, and someone to look up to. Think of what this does to any young kid who idolizes him. Hell, even what it does to me - I loved watching this stand-up kid pursing not just excellence, but perfection. You obtain perfection, and you have a responsibility and an opportunity to be something truly special. To blow that reputation and achievement on something stupid and trivial like this is just such a waste. It's just a shame he either didn't recognize that or just didn't care.

It cant be easy having a bunch of people projecting their ideals on to you and expecting you to live up to them. Thats something he didnt ask for, the guy just wants to swim, quit making him some kind of saint

That's a damn fair statement.

But again, I still don't think of it as ideals...it's about the law, whether you (he) like(s) it or not.
