what's this salary cap? it's completely determined by how big you want to be. if i decided to start making some sort of a pharmaceutical company, i could easily make millions of dollars.

if i don't your average CHE job starts around 65K.

sure in politics you could make millions of dollars too, but you'd have to be some sort of a presidential candidate which you'd probably have to go to law school or something first. PS is great for undergrad if you're going to do something like that afterward, but otherwise it's not at all a good degree.

oh really? when i was in high school probably my sophmore year, i had to do a project on the field of engineering i was interested in. at the time it was nuclear and i had to write a 5 or 6 page paper on the subject.

one of the various sources (which i can't find right now for whatever reason) had average salaries for the degree just out of college, 5 years from then, 10 years, 15, 20, 25 and so on. it had it for pretty much any degree you could think of. for my current degree that started at 60-65K and if i'm good enough to stick around for 15 years i'll easily get to 100k/year. sure, i'll probably never make 1 million a year, but neither will you. I'll take the 100k/year i'd be getting over the 50 you might be

employers are hesitant to hire someone with a m.a. or a phd. b/c they often will 1. ask for a higher salary then someone with just a b.a. and 2. know that they are less likely to stick around.
