Page 2 wonders what Obama thinks about all this...
Quote : | "No... yet again, BigHitSunday gets EXPRESSED WRITTEN CONSENT from the people who he fights with" | Perhaps implied oral consent should be enough. But then still... why the support for all-out bans? Perhaps privately-owned establishments should have to get prior consent, but that's far from a state-wide ban.
Also, I've made some other points that you've not addressed. Do you concede on those points?2/24/2009 2:26:17 PM |

Go ahead and reiterate those points for me. I'll go ahead and shoot them all down, too. And it'll be easier to see than scrolling through all your quotes 2/24/2009 2:29:33 PM |

This is how I quit something else many years ago. There's nothing like runner's high for me, but it's hard to get if you smoke a lot.2/24/2009 2:44:57 PM |

Hey, quitting is always easier when you have a support group to help you out. I don't mean something formal, just friends and stuff to give you moral support. 2/24/2009 2:58:57 PM |

RUNNING is my full proof way of not touching nicotine. I started running on the beach and I'm back in health mode again. Hopefully I can finish the year out like this.2/25/2009 9:52:50 PM |

This is a bald-faced lie. Anybody who was in Army ROTC at state a few years ago remembers Sergeant Holiday. That motherfucker was smoking every second he was outside, and he consistently outran fit, athletic people half his age, with enough wind left over to talk shit to them.
Not to mention all the GIs who were issued cigarettes and still managed to win WWII.
Don't get me wrong, smoking cigarettes is insanely stupid and will make it harder to get into shape. But that should be enough in and of itself, let's not pile outright falsehoods on top.

Chantix has been related to suicide and depression, could possibly be withdrawl symptoms, but something to be aware of if you take the drug.

Are you single? Just understand that some people don't find smoking attractive and don't like to date people who do, so you are limiting your options when you smoke. 3/3/2009 2:26:36 AM |

I have only anecdotal evidence to support this, but I think cold turkey is a bad idea. As in, your brain is damaged and the addiction reinforced by doing this. Sure, some cold turkey quitters are successful, but I think the far more common thing is cold turkey relapse. I went from 20 cigs per day, to 15, to 10, to 5, to 1, to 4-5 per week, to 2-3 per week, to 1 per week. This took over two years to do, but I've been at "1 per week" for 5 years now. I personally don't see the need to quit at this point. I can easily go days without even thinking about having a cig, so I'm not really a "smoker" in the sense that I need smoking breaks or constantly smell like smoke. I've dated girls for over a month, and they never knew that I smoked. (I didn't lie, it just never came up.)3/3/2009 6:40:09 AM |

Quote : | "Start dating someone out of your league that hates smoking." | You don't want to rely on someone else to pressure you into quitting - it'll complicate things with guilt and trust issues, as well as causing you to quit with a crutch. If you quit on your own for your own motives (whatever they are - money, personal or another's health, or just getting sick of the stink), and she moves on, at least you won't start back up because of the breakup.]3/3/2009 7:26:27 AM |

not true. it's hit or miss. i don't smoke or consider myself a smoker, but occassionally I'll have one. i'm not one of those people that complain about smokers. but I have met some hot chicks that smoke and it was even hotter that I made no big deal out of it one way or the other. if I'm with someone that doesn't smoke I don't feel the urge too.
i control smoking . . . it doesn't control me. i can go months w/out it or if I'm being social at a bar or in a smoke break area I'll bum one. the difference with me is I rarely if ever purchase a pack. to me that means I'll eventually smoke 20. I never want to be in that position.3/3/2009 11:34:32 AM |
