I can't believe you've actually encountered anyone like that. Let me guess--they are brand new, boot Lieutenants if they're officers, or they're old, grey-haired, been in for 35 years if they're enlisted.

I can only think of one person like that offhand--he's a Sergeant Major for an F-18 squadron, and is universally considered to be both a complete douche and a raging asshole.

Yep. It's rare. But it happens. This particular guy was older.
Don't get me wrong....the guy has every right to be called by the title that he has earned. It's just that if you want to sling titles around, and be that formal....I feel I have the right to have them call me master, haha
