It only actually works well on one nostril. I think the other side must get swollen or something.

I've been breathing exceptionally clearly the past 2 days... not sure why. Normally i'm a bit stuffy in the mornings, but the past few mornings i've felt like I have another set of nostrils and lungs.

Thankfully, we'll get a little rain tonight into tomorrow morning to clear it up for about 30 minutes.

10.5 on the pollen forecast today. This shit is rough, my throat is killing me.

I bought the wrong kind of local honey (gallberry) and had to go back and get some wildflower. I have been taking it for about a week and a half and can't tell if I am getting any benefits from it yet. Did my sinus rinse this morning and brought some nose sprays into work. Hope it rains tonight.

I can't tell if I'm getting a sore throat or if the pollen is causing this.

yeah, if it actually would work, it would work using local honey (cause you are getting the local pollen and junk in the honey to help build your immunity)

I'm not saying it doesn't work, I just don't know anyone who has done it and noticed an amazingly better allergy season (I don't get bad allergies and I don't like honey so I won't ever be worrying about it)

Whole Foods has local wildflower honey from Charlotte. I bought a ton of it for $11 (maybe 44oz?) and it tastes great. I just eat it right out of the jar. I also bought some at the farmer's market from Johnston County so I have a stock pile. Honey has many benefits or so I read.

If your throat is sore then you probably have sinus drainage.

yeah, there are plenty of people who harvest their own honey locally. hell, if I lived further out into the country, I'd have my own bees- even though I don't like honey, I think it is cool stuff, and you can sell it at the farmers market (or to yall allergy sufferers!)

Claritin > Honey

I do enjoy local honey from one of the booths at the farmers market though.

when I was a kid, I did have two summers where I had some allergies. I was prescribed either nasonex or flonaze (one of the nostril squirter drugs), and that worked wonders for me... then again, I wasn't too bad with it. I wonder if being outside in the woods/nature a lot as a kid, and even now when it gets warm has anything to do with that...

Those sprays make my head feel like the hulk is gripping my skull and give me respiratory infections. I have recently given up on all modern medicine and looked for natural ways to fight my allergies. I have heard that you need to take local honey for a month or more to get benefits. I will have to see how it goes.

Right now sinus rinse and saline spray >>>>>>>> nasonex.

if you try the honey remedies it HAS to be honey from a hive that is within at least 50 miles of you.

I don't really understand why it wouldn't work from Charlotte since it is mostly the same kind of trees. Oh well, guess I'll just stick to the kind from Johnston County.

If the honey is from Charlotte, it's not exactly local unless you live in Charlotte You can buy honey produced in the Triangle at the farmers' market. It's important to get cold processed honey if taking it for allergies. Or you can just get the straight up bee pollen and mix it into smoothies.

I don't miss this but you should take some local bee pollen, it helps with your allergies.

Yeah if it's not cold processed then a lot of the stuff that's supposed to help gets killed off in the heating process. Bee pollen is a better bet anyway. You can get bee pollen at the farmers' market too.

How does that work? It was my understanding that you either brush up against the plant and get a rash or you don't brush up against the plant and you don't get a rash. You'd get it as many times as you came in contact with it, right?

I'm so allergic to that stuff that I can't eat cashews. Poison ivy is in the cashew family (or vice versa, I don't remember). The cashew shell is loaded with that same oil, so I guess enough of it transfers over to the nut and it gets me.

No problem with mangos however.
