I like U2, but not enough to pay to see them. However, I am excited about Muse. I got lower level tickets.

As long as Muse plays Hysteria, Knights of Cydonia, Stockholm Syndrome, and Citizens Erased I'm gonna be on cloud 9.

I'm going. But I'm more excited about seeing a concert at Carter Finley. Not the biggest U2 fan, but I hope it's a good time.

U2 criticized for tour's environmental impact

Quote :
"U2 is being criticized by environmental activists for the carbon footprint that the band's massive U2 360 Tour is leaving on Earth, according to Gigwise.com. Environmental consultant Helen Roberts of Carbonfootprint.com told the Belfast Telegraph, 'The carbon footprint generated by U2's 44 concerts this year is equal to carbon created by the four band members traveling the (34) million miles from Earth to Mars in a passenger plane . . . Just looking at the 44 concerts this year, the band will create enough carbon to fly all 90,000 people attending one of their Wembley concerts to Dublin. To offset this year's carbon emissions, U2 would need to plant 20,118 trees.'"

Quote :
"According to the New York Times, U2 is buying carbon offsets to make up for the potential damage the tour is doing."

He's a tiny guy and always wears lifts. He actually jokes about it often.

Speaking of Bono and Bush:

^ BlackBerry's sponsoring the tour.

^ This is what I found:

13. What does it mean that the tour is being sponsored by Blackberry?

Quote :
"It means U2 gets some extra money, which in turn allows them to keep ticket prices reasonable and pay for this gargantuan stage design. It also probably means there will be some extra U2-related content available to Blackberry users, and there may be something during the shows for Blackberry users -- a way to interact with the concert. This is what Paul McGuinness said when the tour was announced:

'This tour announcement marks the first stage of a relationship and shared vision between RIM and U2 that we expect will lead to new and innovative ways to enhance the mobile music experience on the BlackBerry platform for U2 fans. We look forward to sharing more details as the relationship unfolds.'"

http://www.u2tours.com/faq/

This is the kind of shit that I find annoying--We're interactive! I usually "interact" at a concert by listening and responding to the music that's being played for me.

Wait...U2 is doing something schmaltzy and lame?

YOU'RE KIDDING

Also, why doesn't Bono give up on the lifts? That shit is lamer than Paul Simon's hat, and even he's given that up now.

Setting the Stage
By Dave Pond, Web Communications

U2's stage setup boasts an innovative 360° design which affords a virtually unobstructed view for the audience. (Photo: Diana Scrimgeour/U2.com)

Quote :
"U2's much-anticipated appearance on campus Oct. 3 will not only mark the end of Carter-Finley Stadium’s 11-year hiatus from holding special events, it will also highlight NC State and U2 lead singer Bono’s shared passion for environmental issues while helping to bring more than 1,500 temporary jobs to workers in our community.

'We're in this for one reason and one reason only – to boost the economy for the university and the city of Raleigh,' said Ray Brincefield, assistant athletics director for outdoor facilities at NC State. 'It's a great thing to be able to use our football stadium to aid the local economy.

'Our mission was to employ people who would otherwise not have a job for that week,' he said. 'There’s no cost to the athletic department or the university, and no tax dollars are being used to bring this show to Carter-Finley Stadium.'"

Quote :
"NC State chancellor Jim Woodward said the university is delighted to host U2 not only because of the band members’ talent, but also because of their collective character and community-minded approach to performing and serving people around the world – a mindset similar to that possessed by NC State students, faculty and staff.

'U2 always has been tenacious and focused on and off stage,' Woodward said. 'They make a difference – musically, socially, economically – and NC State is proud to be a part of that.'"
