"Dunn man charged in fatal hit-and-run

Posted: Today at 3:46 p.m.
Updated: 6 minutes ago

Raleigh, N.C. — Police on Tuesday arrested a Dunn man in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in Raleigh on Sunday night.

Gavin Clifford Hawk, 28, of 713-A Peace St., was charged with felony hit-and-run in the death of Ian Kristopher Quick.

Police said Quick, 25, died when an SUV struck his mo-ped on eastbound Interstate 40 at Gorman Street in Raleigh.

Publicity about the search for a yellow Nissan Xterra with front-end damage led to a tip that resulted in Hawk's arrest, police said.

The Raleigh Times, where Quick worked, was closed for lunch Tuesday, as staff, family and friends gathered instead to remember him.

The restaurant was holding a fundraiser in Quick's honor Tuesday night."

glad they found the guy...what a waste of skin

also, i'm hoping this dissuades equally stupid people from riding a damn SCOOTER on the interstate where it has no business

i won't even ride my 250 on the interstate for fear of dying like this, let alone a 50cc liquor cycle

I am glad they found the asshole that killed the dude. I think regardless of where the scooter was traveling being it was the autobahn or neighborhood where the peedlimit is less than 10 mph, that guy had no right hitting the guy and then leaving him to die. I am sure he felt the impact on his SUV.

But then again, that scooter shouldn't have been on the interstate to begin with. Its almost like a slow-moving car on the interstate. It's hazardous as someone already mentioned. And not just for the kid on the moped but everyone else on the interstate. I mean if a semi would have had to stop super fast, it could go out of control taking out the moped AND a few cars.

I have a motorcycle and I know the risks of being on something that will lose everytime against anything traveling on the interstate for sure. So you have to be pretty smart about avoiding situations that may put you at an even higher risk.

Something tells me that it would be much better for society in general for the semi to just keep charging and take out the moped
