I am an openly bisexual married woman. Even though I talk a lot of flirty trash on TWW, I am very committed to my husband. When I married him, I gave up all other sexual partners male and female. It is not an issue.
I don't think that it should ever be an issue. I have two exbfs who have had experiences with other men and one of them is happily married to a woman. I just don't see how sexual preference should be a problem when you're in a monogamous relationship. 4/29/2009 3:11:39 PM |

Why would he have to ask me to "give up" women? When you're in an exclusive relationship, it is just that -- exclusive. There isn't some special bi-clause. . .unless you want one. . .which I don't.
Early in the relationship, he would have been perfectly ok with me bringing home a woman to share. But the more serious our relationship, the less ok it became. Now, it's just not even on the menu. 4/29/2009 3:22:25 PM |

good grief. do straights really get paranoid if their partner has an opposite sex co-worker, acquaintance, or friend they interact with without you there to chaperone?
why is it that if straight people agree on monogamy then it is assumed both parties can fulfill their end of the agreement, but people who are not strictly straight are assumed to be sex addicts who can't possibly be satisfied with one person?
There are plenty of people who are only interested in a romantic or long term relationship with a member of the opposite sex but have had and enjoyed encounters with the same sex. Why is this encouraged in women but despised in men?
if you haven't discussed it beforehand, going outside the bounds of monogamy is cheating no matter who it is with. But monogamy can get stale, and as long as everyone is safe, it can be fun to keep your options open. personally I'm a little disappointed that my partner has had no attraction to the same sex , but at least he's "open to the possibility." 4/29/2009 3:26:09 PM |

^ yes, my ex did. Whenever I was anywhere without her I would get a phone call asking me "are there girls there? what do they look like? how many of them are there? etc etc etc". and when I started my job, the first thing she asked me even before "so do you think you will like it?" was "do any girls work there? are they pretty?"

I think I'm just so freaked out by it because it is so new to me and I don't know what to expect. Like I said he is a truly great guy, so unlike anyone I've ever dated before. I genuinely respect him for telling me now while things are so fresh. I will definitely see him again and right now neither of us are thinking long term since we have both recently gotten out of long term relationships, but if things continue like they have been, I could see that changing.
I'm used to being the more experimental one in the relationship (or at least on the same level). Just as I am used to being the one with the most education and the one with more defined goals. Basically, I'm used to having more of an upperhand and I haven't really been in a position where I have felt this vulnerable in a long time.

I imagine you must find it distressing if your penis looks like anything in those pictures.
the blue one is shaped like a rectum, while the "classic" one bears most resemblance to a cigar. hard to believe, but penises and vaginas have proportions that are vaguely similar. that doesnt mean they are shaped the same.
here are some penis shaped vibrators.
is this distinction abundantly clear yet? 4/29/2009 4:46:11 PM |

the assertion was that women cant perform legitimate sexual acts because they dont have penises and by extension i assume, any woman using sex toys can only pleasure herself with a substitute phallus. I was simply trying to show that many objects designed for female pleasure are shaped like a womans body, not a mans. 4/29/2009 4:50:46 PM |

and your statistics come from where? im assuming your jaunt down to the corner porn store where you buy some novelties for whatever ho you're fucking at the time. IF most pleasure objects are shaped like penises, its probably because most of them are purchased by men. both by men buying for their women and gay men buying for themselves and their partners. and hey, why would my girl want to masturbate with something that doesnt bear a resemblance to my dick? 4/29/2009 5:09:50 PM |

It sounds like you have self confidence issues coupled with the inability to trust a mate. I don't see how this has anything to do with him being slightly into men (it doesn't). To answer your original question : I would consider dating someone who was a proclaimed bisexual but keep in mind i wouldn't date anyone i couldn't trust.
Good luck! 4/29/2009 7:23:53 PM |

I would feel the same way you felt, about not being enough. I would feel like there were twice as many people to worry about him being interested in.
Logically, I think it's okay, and perfectly normal to be curious. There are times in my life that I have been curious about being with women, so I can understand. I also think that when you fall in love with someone, you fall in love with the person, not the gender. So although I consider myself straight, I'm not 100% convinced that I couldn't be with a woman someday. I think a lot of guys are just too scared to admit their curiosity. This guy is obviously open minded, which is good. 4/29/2009 7:29:30 PM |

Okay so I worded that wrong, but you know what I meant.
Speaking to a guy: If you only fuck men, you are gay. If you only fuck women, you are straight. If you do both, you are bisexual.
For a girl: If you only fuck women, you are lesbian. If you only fuck men, you are straight. If you do both, you are bisexual.

If you are viewing sexual orientation as having to be classified into one of three categories, you are missing out on a lot. Figure out whether it would affect your personal values if you were to stay committed and if it doesn't, what's the difference?

Well Kinsey did a pretty thorough study of this kind of stuff, and he basically found a continuum of sexuality, so that it's not nearly as absolute as gay, straight, or bisexual. It was a 0-6 sliding scale, with 0 being exclusively hetero and 6 exclusively homo.
I think we often attempt to see the world in absolute terms, when it is often more shades of gray.
It seems more about your ideas of sexuality than your partner's. I would assume, incidentally, that monogamy and polyamory could be seen on a similar spectrum as well. 4/29/2009 9:42:06 PM |

I wouldn't worry about who this guy fucked in the past, as much as if he's clean now and if you think he's into you. A cheater is going to chase tail no matter who it's attached to.
I don't take people's self-definition of their sexuality too seriously...human sexuality is on a pretty fluid continuum. I've seen plenty of women in Durham go from being the biggest dykes to dating men, and vice versa. Sometimes I like two gay men getting it on in porn, or maybe it's some complicated foursome. I'm in a mainly monogamous relationship with a male partner, but I wouldn't consider myself outwardly straight by any means due to my beliefs and lifestyle.
It doesn't necessarily have to be complicated, and you don't necessarily have to proclaim to everyone you're dating someone who's also been with dudes. 4/29/2009 9:52:29 PM |
