Just ENFORCE the existing ones. Forgive me, but I don't buy the line of "this isn't meant to do X, so don't worry about it." We were fucking told that with the Patriot Act. And look what we have now: a gov't that is using it to say "you can't ask us to follow the law, fuck off."

Yeah, maybe. Like I said I wasn't taking a strong position on hate crimes myself either way, just explaining the reasoning behind such legislation as best I understood it.

But like I said, I can sympathize with the part about making it easier to find recourse when local authorities have prejudices of their own.

But I think you can agree that regardless of how you feel about hate crime legislation, that Foxx was behaving in a downright repulsive way.
