if you have 10.4.x you have to pay but I think its $99? That is the upgrade price

If you have 10.5.x then your update to 10.5.7 is free. just click on the apple logo (top left) -> software update

^if you go to any best buy they should have an apple store inside with it. You can't buy it online and download it that i know of.

yeah, our best buy is miniature and doesn't have an apple section (which doesn't mean they don't carry osx, but it's not likely)

just talked to an apple chat lady, they don't offer an upgrade price from tiger to leopard, but they do for leopard to snow leopard. i told her that was stupid and that windows does it for every generation of their OS.

i don't think i'll be able to play it. after looking up specs on previous imac generations, i'm pretty sure i only have 1gb of ram, the game needs 2, and i probably have 10.4. even if i have 10.5 i don't have enough ram.
this is the first time in my life i've been behind the curve for what's required to play a video game on a computer. i can't believe it's not going to work on my imac!!!!

it's $129 for leopard. the upgrade for leopard to snow leopard is $29. there's no upgrade price from tiger to leopard, you have to pay full price.

^3 You can tell exactly what one you have by clicking the apple in the upper left hand corner and choosing "About this Mac"

That's how I found out... I have 10.4.11. And apparently something's wrong with my video card? This shit must be intense.

I was really pissed when it installed onto my Parallels thingy and then it said something was wrong with the video card... What a tease.

^^ Genius, I didn't say "Where can I buy windows"

I said "Where do you buy windows"

Meaning where the hell do you shop that you spend $500 for windows.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116488 <- Vista for $100

^from the same place I buy Leopard actually...and it doesn't say...

Quote :
"Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit for System Builders - OEM"

on the box either...

When vista first came out it was $499 for ultimate or something in that ball park...now its still a hell of a lot more than Leopard...

Meaningless, You don't get the manual or box with OEM but other than that there's few reasons not to get it.

You don't need ultimate anyway

In case you want the shiny box: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116467

^again...its home basic. IF I am going to shell out for an OS its going to be one that isn't watered down. But this isn't an OS thread so we're done here.

yes i know this, i was not on my imac at the time then. i was on my work computer WHICH WOULD HANDLE THE SIMS3 PERFECTLY

now i'm trying to justify purchasing leopard for my dad (my boss)'s macbook since he's got 2gb of ram, then i could just buy more ram for $30 and install leopard on mineses too

could i get away with installing it on 2 computers??

^ Oh ok, just making sure

and I think you can install it twice. I know with the Sims 2 I installed it on my computer at home then on my laptop when I got to college... I don't see why they would have changed that. Unless you're talking about Leopard, which yes, you can -- my aunt is sending me hers and she said it will be fine. I think there's a limit as to how many computers you can install it on though.

This game better be pretty fucking good for us to have to go through all this work!!

^^you can install leopard on as many machines as you like (though thats not techaniclly legal.) apple goes by the honor system not the phone home microsoft way.

my dad's macbook has 2gb of ram and the option to run vista, so i bought sims3 to test install (bc then i could run vista on my imac, just get another stick of ram). it took every bit of an hour to install the game, no errors. i go to run it and it says i don't have a good enough graphics card

well, my home one does. i just need vista or leopard and a stick of ram.

i will make this work one way or another god damn it!!!

I just experienced my first Sims "glitch" over the weekend

I was playing a family that had 3 adults and a toddler...I had the adult teach the toddler to talk. And once the toddler learned to talk, neither got up. I canceled out all their actions but they still were frozen. Finally I just quit playing that family and moved on. A few days passed (in IRL time) and I decided to check on them and see if the issue had worked itself out. They were still there, adult and toddler, frozen on the floor talking (well the toddler was crying b/c it was hungry, sleepy, and had a full bladder).

Anyway, all the other members of the family had become elders. Finally I got a notice that if I didn't take care of the kid then social services would come. The weird thing was that the adult was no longer part of the family. Once social services came and removed the toddler, she was able to get up. I moved her out of the house and now I can't find her.

Apparently this is a huge issue w/ Sims 3 (just googling "sims 3 talk to toddler freeze" came up w/ mulitple results w/ people have the same issue as me)...

Another semi-glitch is that my male Sims will just have kids when I check in on them...no idea who the mother is. Also the same w/ my female Sims. They will have babies but no idea who the baby daddy is.

^^I had that problem the other day I just exited the house without saving and went back. I tried it again and it worked just fine. I know there's some kind of cheat to help you fix it when it happens (something like "reset sim" if you want to look it up.)

^Got the patch and looooove how fast things go now! It's like the normal sims2 speed 3. Nice to have it back!

My only drawback as of late is that I find myself getting a bit bored...which is odd because I never felt that way with thesim1 or thesims2. I'm trying my own little version of a legacy challenge (Getting one family name to 10 generations) I'm not following points or the rules that strictly but it's helping to keep my interest in the game. Kinda sad that I need my interest to be held Maybe an EP will help?

another glitch i discovered last night

I have this Sim that has a head and feet...but tahts it...he has no body, no arms...nothing between his head and feet.

So he doesn't do anything but go swimming. There aren't options to make him go to the bathroom, sleep or anything. I checked out his profile and it says he's 135 Sim days old

he won't die either...he can't eat so his starvation goes all the way down to 0 hours (which is when you should die) but then it just goes right back up to 16 hours.

anyone else having trouble downloading the update? Halfway through an error message pops up saying that there is a missing file (non-specific). I tried a few times and does the same thing everytime.

Not going to hate because I hadn't heard, but that announcement was posted almost 2 months ago lol.

Thanks for the news though, looks pretty cool I guess, I burnt out on it after a couple of weeks, but I'd be willing to pick it back up.
