we also were towed the first night at our current residence (purchased townhouse though, not apartment).

HOA manual said you could park in the guest lot for 3 days before needing a parking pass. wife's car got towed within 30 minutes of parking there.... at 1 AM.... while the lot was empty.

First Friday has existed for at least ten years, and probably much longer.

All the art galleries and things downtown are open and have live performances going on...the idea is to get people from out in north Raleigh to come downtown and see what kinds of businesses exist on all those dirty one-way streets.

There's cool stuff to see, but unless you're on a bike (and a few hundred people are) it's generally more trouble than it's worth.

It's way less of a shitshow than Downtown Live, however.
