^^^ LT needs 6500 yards to break the rushing record. He's gonna get there and I feel like he has a couple of 1500-1600 yard rushing seasons left. The man ain't over the hill yet.
I am also curious to see this RB list

The reason I think S Jax will still be around will be because of the idiot guys in front of me. The first 11 I expect to get drafted:
AP, Burner Turner, MJD, Forte, Fitzgerald, Chris Johnson, Deangelo Williams, Fitzgerald, Brady, LT, Brees.
I like S Jax but I don't trust his health and the Rams don't seem to have a good enough passing attack to keep defenses honest. Gore is in the same boat...healthier, but teams will stack the run and dare SF to beat them through the air. Houston is much better balanced offensively. Schaub is a decent quarterback when healthy, Walter is a capable 2nd receiver...I know it seems like I've already made up my mind, but there might be something about Gore or S Jax that I haven't discovered yet that would make my decision a stupid one. 7/28/2009 10:12:20 PM |

What do you guys think about Ronnie Brown and Pierre Thomas. It seems they are ranked higher than I would have thought.
Brown got most of his production TD-wise from one game, and he might get more of a full workload this year, but that list has him as the 26th pick? 12th RB after Barber and Portis?
Pierre Thomas is one RB ranking below at the 30th pick. Why? Bush, the other RBs for the Saints, and that passing offense makes me scratch my head.
I have a 12 man keeper league with 5 keepers. My keepers: QB: Brady WR:Moss, Colston RB: My best RBs are Thomas and Brown( hence why I wonder should I keep them. I get #35 and #45 pick respectively if I don't keep one or both)
I was originally thinking drop the RBs and draft two more... 7/29/2009 10:21:39 AM |

Its a 12 man PPR league, can play combination of 2RB/2WR;3RB/1WR; or 1RB/3WR.
I took Forte #1 overall over AP because of the PPR, also think he have a better year w/ Cutler stretching the defense. Bush and Westbrook, assuming good health, should shine in a PPR league.
Have B. Marshall and V Jackson to pick from fro receiver, both over 1000yds/6td last year.
Thoughts??
Flacco, Joe BAL QB Romo, Tony DAL QB
Bush, Reggie NOS RB Forte, Matt CHI RB Hightower, Tim ARI Washington, Leon NYJ RB Westbrook, Brian PHI RB
Hixon, Domenik NYG WR Jackson, Vincent SDC WR Marshall, Brandon DEN WR Moore, Lance NOS WR

ok draft, you definitely got some of the usual suspects in the RB department when it comes to PPR (Forte, Westy & Bush). It would have been nice to see you take a gamble or two on another WR instead of 2 defenses and 2 TE's.
WR's are a little flat, but other than that, it's a pretty decent team. Much of your team's success will hinge on how healthy Westbrook will be. 7/29/2009 2:26:31 PM |

^^^yep, wr's might be of concern...especially marshall, but if you can flex your roster like that to play more RB's, you should be OK.
I'm betting leon washington has a monster year...On the order of 2,500+ all purpose yards (including returns) and 15+ TDs...great later round value pick...especially in leagues that have ppr and/or return points.
^^thomas is going to get alot of goal line chances, I'd keep him based on the pick you'd give up....Brown's a toss up imo.

Need trade advice for a 10 man keeper league.
I am planning on keeping Brady, Moss, Colston, Pierre Thomas and Ronnie Brown. I have Aaron Rodgers to trade.
Proposed trade: Michael Turner and the 162nd pick for Aaron Rodgers and the 95th pick.
I think I'll take it and keep Brady, Moss, Colston, Turner obviously and Ronnie Brown

Yeah, but it's keeper league....pretty different.
He's got AP, Forte, and Turner, and can only keep 2. He's going to lose Turner, and he has no QB. Rodgers is a top 5 QB, and the only one being traded right now....
I think it's a steal for me too, but Rodgers is young and GB has a young WR corp, so they'll be good for passing #'s for years.
Turner is 27 and had 376 carries last year....I just hope he doesn't drop his numbers because of the insane workload.
Plus the 10th pick is really the 5th pick in our draft, since the first 5 slots are keepers. So I traded a 5th pick for a 12th pick really. 8/3/2009 10:23:13 AM |
SmoothTalker Veteran 198 Posts user info edit post |
^ While it's true that Rodgers may be good for years and Turner won't last as long, a backup QB isn't going to get you any points and I doubt you would be able to find a better deal. You might be able to get him to remove the picks from the equation tho, since he will have to trade Turner. 8/3/2009 2:05:26 PM |

I'll be honest, in a 6 man league, EVERY team is good, and there is ZERO chance that wouldn't have at least one player that goes nuts with a great season.
I've never played in a league that small, so my only advice is to keep tabs on the waiver wire and especially injuries.
There isn't enough depth to be concerned about "sleepers" before the season, there's simply too much talent out there to risk dropping someone before the season even starts.
The fact that you are starting 3 WR's and 3 RB's and still have Bowe and Portis on your bench speaks volumes. You are fine for now, unless you could trade up for Brees.

same reason that the Redskins want to play Betts in 30% of the snaps this year. To preserve him for the long run.
In other news.....
According to Chicagobears.com, Matt Forte has been held out of inside runs drills in training camp.
Fear not drafters, Forte insists he is 100 percent healthy. He suffered a minor injury in OTAs and the Bears didn't want to subject him to the punishing inside drills. He's fine. There is still plenty of time for him to get work in.
========================================================================
ESPN.com reports that the Jaguars are working out starting runningback Maurice Jones-Drew at wide receiver during training camp.
The Jags want to minimize the beating Jones-Drew will take this season and get him out into space more. He's one of the more talented pass-catching backs in the league and the Jags want to get the ball in his hands as many times and as many ways as possible.
========================================================================
The Associated Press reports that the Broncos are grooming second year receiver Eddie Royal to be their "offensive centerpiece" this season. The Broncos plan on moving him all over the field.
Last season Royal set team rookie records with 91 catches, 980 yards and five scores. It's scary to think that he could build on those numbers this season. Second to Brandon Marshall last season, it looks like Royal will be top dog in 2009.

Just got the first pick in my fantasy draft. There are three players under consideration. Here's my thoughts -- advice is definitely welcomed.
Peterson: Seems like the obvious choice. He's consistent and capable of monster games. The problem I see with him is that his QB situation is so horrendous, teams are going to load up on him. Since I'm in a PPR league, Peterson doesn't bring much to the table (though I hear he's been working on his routes). His backup, Chester Taylor, is no slouch either, and is gonna take some carries away.
Turner: He got the ball more than any other back last year (over 23 carries a game), so he's one of the few workhouse backs still left. He's consistent as hell, and awesome around the goal line. Matt Ryan/Roddy White/Tony Gonzalez are going to take a lot of pressure off him I'm assuming. Problem here is that he brings almost ZERO receptions to the table (6 catches last year). Plus I'm a Panthers fan, so I'll be torn during those two games this year.
Forte: I view him as the most consistent back there is. With Cutler coming on board, teams will be forced to honor the pass much more than last year, so his YPC should go up -- plus an efficient offense=more scoring opportunities. I was all set on picking him first until I read Panthro's tidbit on the Bears planning to use Kevin Jones exclusively on 3rd down. That sucks, considering Forte had over 70 catches last year (I'm assuming a lot came on 3rd down).
Decisions... 8/14/2009 4:48:39 PM |

My league is thinking about switching to PPR? Pros? Cons? Which do you guys prefer?
Also, should I keep Pierre Thomas, Ronnie Brown, or drop both and have the 55th pick in my 10 man keeper league? 8/18/2009 11:28:14 AM |
Panthro All American 7333 Posts user info edit post |
^ PPR is fantastic. We play 0.5 pts per reception just to balance things out. In years where I have played 1pt per, it severely throws the rankings out of whack. In my opinion, 6 dump off catches for 2 yard gains shouldnt be worth as much as a TD, but that's just my opinion. All in all, you will love PPR, just make sure to keep this in consideration when having your draft.
As for your question about Pierre and Brown, I would keep both. Here's the ADP (Average Draft Position) in a 10 man league for the 5th round (your 55th pick would be right in the middle)
50 5.10 DeSean Jackson WR PHI 51 5.10 Derrick Ward RB TB 52 5.10 Tony Gonzalez TE ATL 53 6.02 Larry Johnson RB KC 54 6.03 Knowshon Moreno RB DEN 55 6.05 Dallas Clark TE IND 56 6.05 Eddie Royal WR DEN 57 6.06 Joseph Addai RB IND 58 6.07 Tony Romo QB DAL 59 6.08 Thomas Jones RB NYJ 60 6.08 Santonio Holmes WR PIT
Both Ronnie Brown and Thomas' ADP is right at 3.1, so there's no way in hell you should consider this.
Hope it helped.

Dr. Panthro, please rank Favre and ballpark his stats for this year 8/18/2009 11:55:08 AM |
Panthro All American 7333 Posts user info edit post |
It's my opinion that if Favre plays, he will have about 3-4 very good games, with the remaining being average at best. Think Big Ben from the Steelers last year.
Favre's O-Line is better, but he's not as nimble as Ben, nor are his receivers as good.
Minnesota is a run first team. If they have expectations of changing that by Favre coming to town, he will have a disaster of a year. I imagine him throwing for ~3000 yds if he plays and having about 20 TD's to 15 picks. You can count on at least 5-10 fumbles as well.
All in all, he would go as high as the 12th-15th QB taken (around Cassel, Orton and Hasselbeck) with a little sleeper potential, but there's no reason to believe that he isn't going to crumble in the latter stages of the season just like he did last year with the Jets.
Draft at your own risk!
