I don't look at palestine as having any of the above mentioned attributes. Israel repeatedly, since 1948, has performed a preemptive attack as distraction to cloak their goal of obtaining more territory. This has simultaneously achieved their imperialist goals while making Israel appear as the victim. In 1948 the isralei terrorist group Yishuv began attacking the Palestinians which led to the 1948 war in which the army of israel retaliated to take more land rather than denounce the yishuv attacks and aim for peace.

This took place again during the six day war when egypt received word from russia that israel was planning an attack on their area. this information is believed to have been intentionally leaked. as any sovereign nation would egypt rallied their troops. israel used this rally of troops as an excuse for a catalyst of war. a war which resulted in nothing but more territory taken by israel. territory that despite the requests of the UN and the unanimous support by all countries except the US and one other country ( i think the dutch) has never been returned.

the constant imprisonment of families and children in the disputed territories is abhorrent and parallels the treatment of the jews during the second world war. the fact that we passively support this treatment by supporting israel is disgusting.

in many ways palestine is retaliating against all the injustices that have been laid upon them. injustices that are far more real than the hypothetical threats israel has a history of using to support their imperialistic and racist policies.

that is how they are different.

Yeah, that is the one that got me. I don't know or really care to know a lot about the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. But I do know there is something really sad about destroying a farmers irrigation, no matter who the target is and who is doing the destruction. It's simply inhumane.

I agree with Str8Foolish on this one.

We arm Israel. Both in real arms, and in monetary backing. Their entire economy is predicated on continual warfare. They spend almost 10% of their GDP on "defense", more than triple that of the US. And we are considered a pretty militaristic nation.

Their weapons and defense industry accounts for a substantial amount of their exports, income, and technology base. They have 8% unemployment, a fairly stable economy, and yet we continue to feed them money and arms.

The best thing the Palestinians (and other Arabic countries) can do is to stop all retaliation and conflict. Israel's economy will slowly implode on itself if they can't justify continual skirmishes.

We shouldn't be involved anymore. Let them move to a peace-time economy if they can, and if someone else provokes a REAL attach down the road, and they actually need assistance, then revisit the issue.

Israel should be left to fend for themselves. The United States should not treat them as an unconditional ally, like we do with Britain. Britain is a peaceful ally with a long history filled with regret. If Israel is strong enough to bring a lasting peace, then it will, and with that, it will have earned the right to survive and be protected. The days of The United States sweeping Israel's evils under the rug are over. If the bloodshed can stop, it must begin within, but the fear is that Israel has no intention of stopping. This may not end well.

Also: No Palestinian Arab or Jew "killed" anybody to take the land that Israel is now founded upon. If you trace far enough back you may be able to find perpetrators in their blood lines but are you seriously advocating collective punishment centuries down the line? If so, isn't practically any modern invasion justified?
