You're right, the top selling musician of all time passing away suddenly isn't newsworthy.7/7/2009 11:55:01 PM |

interesting game to play here would be: watch people flock to defend someone who was accused multiple times of and all but admitted to palming little boys against some guy they were told to hate because he has a problem with that
regardless of what you think actually happened, the ease with which you people are lead by the nose is pretty astonishing here
no surprise, either, is that the manufactured opponent here would be a conservative 7/8/2009 4:31:44 AM |

chuck berry transported minors across state lines for sex purposes
james brown spied on women in the bathroom
michael jackson probably did some inappropriate things with kids
but i don't give a fuck
because they're musical geniuses 7/8/2009 4:46:44 AM |

its also absurd to adore or dismiss someone's music based on what kind of life they led (in my opinion) otherwise you just dont know what the fuck you claim to condone or condemn 7/8/2009 4:49:21 AM |

seriously. selective moralism is fucking retarded.
appreciate people for the good they did, the talent they had. and don't forget the shitty things the did either. but you don't dismiss or ignore the contributions of a person to this world because they happened to do some fucked up shit as well.
if you really want to walk that line, you better be sitting in a mud hut with a wood fire pit, because there hasn't been much done of note in the world by people who didn't also do some fucked up shit to go with it. 7/8/2009 5:49:09 AM |

Noen just summed up this entire thread. MJs wacky life and allegations are ok because he was famous and talented, but Pete King is a racist for calling out MJ7/8/2009 6:20:12 AM |

my man faced 10 charges of abuse
a jury of his peers found him not guilty on all counts

pete king isn't racist because of these comments. he's racist because of this:
http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/07/gop-rep-steve-king-is-only-vote-against-recognizing-history-of-slave-labor-in-capitol.php
(he was the lone "No'" vote on legislation recognizing that slave trade took place in the Capitol) 7/8/2009 4:39:29 PM |
