Got a question for a dress-clueless friend.

He has a company recruiting dinner event coming up that is listed as 'business casual'. According to his department, that means coat and tie.

All he has is a black suit. I'm thinking without buying anything, he could wear the black coat with some dress khaki pants and a light colored dress shirt - not white - then a tie that he can take off depending on what other people are wearing.

He's a bigger guy, and apparently that matters? I dunno. Any opinions?
