^^^joe the plumber has (or at least had) a book deal. you can look up different sources if you like. it was all over. and huffington post is a HUGE organization. much of it is news aggregation. which is exactly what that post was. it's an AP/Politico story. but thanks for your blind refusal to admit basic facts.

what claims? the stuff about JtPs taxes? that he wasn't licensed? That he was never making over $250k/year, and therefore be in the tax bracket that he was whining to Obama about? That instead, he somehow thought that having $250k in savings, enough to buy a plumbing company, meant that he would have to pay taxes in the $250k bracket; that, or he didn't know that a small business pays taxes on profit and not on revenue? Or that he didn't actually pen the book that has his picture on it?
Have you been paying attention? This stuff is common knowledge by now, and the fact that you apparently are unaware of it says a lot more about your own grasp of current events than the people attacking Joe.7/20/2009 4:51:56 PM |

yeah i'm sorry for enabling further talk of joe the plumber. he's really not worthy of much of anyone's time. i'm just putting off finishing my dissertation. also i've been pretty distracted today because i've had to deal with reporting credit card fraud to three different police dept.'s

three points:
(1) Meghan McCain: I would hit that. I'd hit it twice.
(2) Joe the Plumber is a dumbass, and anyone who defends him as somehow being a not-dumbass, is also a dumbass.
(3) dumbass, in this context, is not ad hominem tactics to support weak debate skills. it is calling a dumbass a dumbass, so as to not waste any more of our life on a complete dumbass. 7/21/2009 2:18:15 AM |

What's "pretty clear" is that some here turn to. . .
. . .for meaningful political commentary like this:

Quote : | "[To Laura Ingraham via The View] 'Kiss my fat ass.'" |

Quote : | "What's "pretty clear" is that ..." | ... you're a dumbass.
Because nobody here "turns to" Meghan McCain for political commentary. This is pure entertainment. And it's coming from a big cute buxom blonde gal who almost became part of our First Family.
what stopped that from actually happening is that Daddy McCain "turned to" a dumbass with the alias of Joe the Plumber for political viability, along with a shipwreck named Sarah Palin, and that pair turned his campaign into the biggest joke of the 21st century.
... oh, and did i mention... that i'd hit that?

^ You did, in the OP and with the existence of this very thread:
Quote : | "Meghan McCain, that is. While speaking speaking to a reporter about her support for gay marriage, John McCain's daughter dismissed Joe the Plumber as a 'dumbass'" |
Quote : | "She's also not afraid to voice her opinion on more established GOP targets." |
Quote : | "of course, the GOP intelligentsia isn't going to take this lying down:" |

Oh, Hooksaw.
Meghan McCain doesn't strike me as being particularly bright or insightful. But I decided to read up on her a little bit, since I'd never really heard of her at all until fairly recent. And what do you know? It came out that you like to take quotes out of context to make people look bad.
For example:
Quote : | "[To Laura Ingraham via The View] 'Kiss my fat ass." |
Which, of course, makes it sound like Meghan went on the view and told Laura, "Kiss my fat ass." That would represent a really low level of discourse, wouldn't it? Of course, it's not what happened.
Quote : | "Laura Ingraham challenged McCain's article by comparing her to a "Valley Girl." Ingraham also mocked McCain, stating, "Ok, I was really hoping that I was going to get that role in The Real World, but then I realized that, well, they don’t like plus-sized models." McCain responded to Ingraham in a second article . . . stating, "Instead of intellectually debating our ideological differences about the future of the Republican Party, Ingraham resorted to making fun of my age and weight. . ." McCain also stated on The View that she thought the change in discourse towards her body was "terrible" and further argued: "When Tyra Banks went on her show in a bathing suit and said 'kiss my fat ass,' that's what I feel like. Kiss my fat ass!" Ingraham responded by calling McCain a "useful idiot." During a later interview on Larry King Live, McCain said that as far as she is concerned, "with what's going on with Laura Ingraham, on my end, it's over."" |
As far as I can tell, she also never said "twitter creep" (although she did say that having her tweets followed by Rove was creepy).
The Ann Coulter/train wreck comment is overblown. Watching a person spew invectives and dislike is like watching a train wreck. Both are unpleasant, but sometimes it's hard to look away.
And as for Joe the Plumber...look, I really don't know any other way to put this, so I'll be blunt. Anybody who says the following:
Quote : | "People don’t understand the dictionary—it’s called queer. Queer means strange and unusual. It’s not like a slur, like you would call a white person a honky or something like that. You know, God is pretty explicit in what we’re supposed to do—what man and woman are for. Now, at the same time, we’re supposed to love everybody and accept people, and preach against the sins. I’ve had some friends that are actually homosexual. And, I mean, they know where I stand, and they know that I wouldn’t have them anywhere near my children." |
Is dumb. And an ass. They are a dumbass.7/21/2009 3:51:25 PM |
