That would be illegal, actually.

Oh, who knows, maybe some folks think it's a good idea to put public pressure and the court of public opinion to work on their side in a disagreement with a private business. But that's really dumb and completely understands the nature of free speech.

Again, where are these people petitioning the government to stop the mall from violating their rights?

They don't have to renew the lease for the kiosk period. But then people were outraged by the whole Valley Swim Club thing which was another private business that was not legally obligated to let them be there.

So which is it? Do people have rights to everything or what?

You start your account by saying that Concord Mills is canceling the kiosk lease because of customer complaints. You then go off on a rant in which you imply that they did it because the mall owners are pro-Obama liberals. This does not compute.

If people were complaining about a kiosk in my mall, I'd kick them out, too. Sure, I disagree with the customers and think they are overreacting and stupid, but I own a mall to make money from them. That means that I will absolutely pander to their oversensitive whining.

Good call I almost forgot.

So it is ok for a private business that essentially provides a mall venue to a PUBLIC crowd to deny a vendor for personnal reasons.

On the flip it is NOT ok for a private club whose patrons pay to be a select member group to deny a certain group to use their pool.

It sums up capitalism. Capitalism involves competition which involves pandering. Hell, competition is pandering. People don't lower their prices because they feel like it, they do it to kiss consumer ass. When you stop pandering, you're communist. Communists don't have to pander. They can shoot you.

If this were the case Concord Mills would be promoting more kiosks like the one getting the boot. As the demographic around Concord has a high density
of GIT-ER-DUN Nascar and Dubya types. surely Concord Mills lost more business from the people pissed off at giving a "conservative themed"
kiosk the boot versus the loss of business from 1 kiosk out of over a hundred shopping venues to whom the sensitive demographic
is upset "about dem whites makin fun of our president" selling merchandise.

The malls actions are obviously an irrational business decision fueled by the owners personnal/political agenda.

If Concord Mills had given a Obama kiosk the boot for selling non-neutral goods there would have been the million man march going on last Fall.

Actually after accepting the $1900 the group paid to become members of the pool in their "open membership", the swim club did indeed have a contractual obligation to let them be there. They could probably easily be sued for breach of contract by the day camp. In this case Concord Mills is most probably not obligated to offer another lease to a kiosk tennat, an actual storefront lease probably has some sort of options clause due to cost of relocation, but a kiosk is probably a yearly or monthly lease with limited options.

In addition, race is a "protected class" in this country, political affiliation is not.

When you can provide one shred of evidence for this theory (other than your assurances), we can discuss it.

One person made a complaint about the kiosk, and the lease was not renewed.
If a single person had made, or makes a complaint about an Obama (thing) then they would be ignored.

This must be an example, then, of that highly-touted tolerance that liberals are so full of (among other things)

there's a difference between tolerance and actively contributing to something you don't believe in.

i believe in the right for people to have all sorts of businesses. that doesn't mean i'd necessarily want to be associated with them.
