The yard is a legit concern and i'll give you that. Are you though seriously one of those douches that bitches about the window blinds being messed up though??????
The HOA has warned us once on our blinds and a second time because our bug screens were faded with holes. I was like "seriously?". Do some of these HOA faggots pussies have nothing better to do then roll around and make sure everyone has pretty bug screens in their windows.
The other thing that pissed me off is when we got a warning that my roommate couldn't park his motorcycle horizontally adjacent right in front of our parking spaces. Thus we lose a parking space (only 2 for three roommates) because some fat bitch out walking her dog did not feel like stepping to the left side of the side walk to walk around the motorcycle.

Most homeowners would be too embarrassed to let their yard get that out of hand. Unfortunately there are a few terds out there though.
Our neighbors on either side keep their lawn reasonably cut but it's basically all crab grass, weeds, and clover. I'm constantly having to fight that shit to keep it from spreading over into our yard. It's pretty annoying. 7/28/2009 7:23:23 AM |

Supposedly my buddy who lives in North Case; north of Wilmington has some asshole HOA orgainization. Apparently they can not have people park in the street because it "undermines" the values of the property. So instead guests end up parking in the homeowners lawns which looks so much more classy! Though not enforced as heavily this is against HOA regulation too. I supposed the people on the board have family in California or no friends as I do not see how a resident can have guests over while abiding by the HOA guidelines. They must have to shuttle them from the Pool/Recreation area or the food lion down the street.
BTW this is a suburban housing neighborhood not some high density apartment/townhouse place; and just happens to be one of the largest subdivisions in wilmington. 7/28/2009 11:04:35 AM |

there is some, but not much, truth to that. it'd only matter to me if were trying to sell my house at that time. and if you're buying a house, you do look at the neighbor situation. at the end of all factors, it can be a tiebreaker.7/28/2009 11:12:30 AM |

What do you expect the HOA to do? Do you want the HOA to hire a lawn care company and backcharge your neighbor for the services? HOA's are well and good sometimes, but it seems like in this instance they don't want to make waves because, in reality, it is mice nuts.
We have all had shitty neighbors who do things that irk us. Go ahead and build a bridge. 7/28/2009 11:24:57 AM |

I don't think the parking regulations are meant for one time events, only the extreme few are so anal as to bitch like that. I'm in just that situation in my neighborhood with a house that sits on a street I have to take every time I come and go. They have their 2 car garage filled with massive tool boxes and 2+ motorcycles. They have an older son (or maybe 2) so this means most evenings after work there are automatically 3 cars here - two in the driveway and the third either in the street or (worse) half in the driveway half blocking the sidewalk. Then, they typically have a small box trailer that they use to transport their bikes with that normally stays parked in the street and my neighborhood ironically backs right up to a trailer storage lot. Then, they usually have 1-3 other vehicles parked on the street from various friends that are over, and this is multiple nights a week, with the weekend being worse. I've not really said anything for the 2 years I've been here, but this past weekend got a letter from me to the HOA when they had 6 cars + the trailer in the street, one bike on the sidewalk, and their driveway turned into a makeshift paint booth (with tents) so they could paint one of the friends shitty civics. A neighbor across the street happened to park their car there, so on several trips in and out of the house that day I had about 1ft on each side of my Jeep to squeeze through. I'm sure that made the neighborhood look great to folks riding through looking to purchase here. 7/28/2009 11:36:41 AM |

I'd be pissed if my neighbor didn't care about the appearance of his house.
But given that, I'd never ever buy a house in this type of neighborhood:

This would piss me off too. Id probably just cut his yard. You would be done by the time he got his lazy ass off the sofa.
I also agree about bitching about the blinds... seriously? I wouldnt have noticed it without the circle around it. Hardly a big deal, but that grass is fing ridiculous. 7/28/2009 12:44:26 PM |
