We live in strange times. 10 or 15 years ago, a twin turbo V6 was considered a relatively gas guzzling and high polluting motor. Now it is an "eco" motor through slick marketing. There's nothing particularly revolutionary about this engine. It does use up-to-date technology, but it's not like Ford was the first to produce direct injected gas motors. Direct injection is inherently better for emissions and fuel economy and Ford was mostly responding to new regulations. I will say though, I am pretty impressed with their speed density setup because it uses three air temperature sensors in different locations (airbox, intercooler piping, intake manifold).
Anyway, I guess you can slap "eco" on anything now. I'm going to start taking shits and call them eco shits because they don't smell as bad as they could have smelled if I ate a lot of beans. 10/12/2009 1:49:45 AM |

BMW and Audi are also replacing all high displacement motors in their hipo cars with smaller engines and forced induction.
